Smart is looking really good right now. Good court awareness and passing.
Wake me up when he leads the league in assists for multiple years and leads pgs in rebs. And gets lot of triple doubles. And makes one all nba defensive team
move on!

Cant. We have a good player and instead of surrounding him with better players (in which we can), we gave him away.

Until we get a replacement for him (not necessarily in position but in star power), it'll be hard to move on.

1.  I don't see how people can so blithely overlook the obvious half-assing Rondo did for the last few years in Boston.

2.  What magic wand should Ainge have waived to get these "good players"?

Mike

1.) Point taken. But if we are in a winning situation, maybe he wont half ass his way around?

2.) We had a shot at getting Omer Asik last year by adding some picks. He could atleast give us a defensive boost. If we were close in getting a legitimate Center with our assets, why do you think it's so impossible to other solid players?

And if we had Omer Asik...then what?  We make the playoffs with a sub .500 record and then have to spend $50 million plus resigning Rondo, Asik and Green in the offseason and then spend the next five years losing in the first round of the playoffs?

Mike

CP# would have QUIT long ago....rondo never quit....CP# got other players fired..a coach fired......you don't know cp3.......did he lead the league in assists...?

CP3 chris paul

Yes. 3 time league leader in assist. But yeah, he wouldn't help this rebuilding team either. He's not even in the top 5 PG discussions this season.

He chose to leave.

Where on Earth was Marcus Smart in this game? I thought he was a good defender. Is this what we can expect now. The opposing pg (who can't shoot apparently) go for like 29 and 18 point losses at home?

I really hope you're trolling, because otherwise you're just a moron. How often was Smart even on him when he scored or at all? Rondo started; Smart did not start. It's comical watching you try to reason lol
Well who did he slow down? Not Monta Ellis. Devin Harris outscored him too.

Funny game by Rondo tonight.  I'm pretty glad we don't have to deal with his bipolar disorder anymore.

I'll be shocked if he continues to shoot 38% from three for the rest of his time in Dallas.   I predicted a honeymoon period... we're in the thick of it.

I'm not sure if bipolar disorder is a strong enough concept to describe his playing style the last several years.

Stevens didn't show much emotion towards Rondo there after the game. Granted, he hardly shows any emotion.

neither of them do.  Stevens didnt have to go up and shake his hand and he did, i think thats what needs to be taken away from that exchange

Complicated relationship, I assume. The player, by his own admission, claimed he didn't play any defense for Stevens. I'm sure that must have drove the coach crazy.

Didn't feel much like a Rondo homecoming. Crowd didn't shower him like they did Doc, KG and Paul.

That's because he only showed up for half of the games  ;)
lol

Hehehe....fair point. He was a half-hearted player, so its fitting they gave him a half-hearted ovation.

Unless you're there at the game I don't think us at home get the full effect:

Rondo just got one of the loudest ovations I've heard here for a former #Celtics.

Rondo gets a huge ovation when he leaves. He finishes with a season-high 29 pts, 6 reb and 5 assists. He made 12-of-19 shots, and 5-of-7 3s.

But I don't think anything will top Pierce's welcome and the tears were flowing in the building.

Because good defense means outscoring the opponent?  ::) Haha good chatting with you, man. Obviously there's no budging on the narrative you want to posit.

Yep, Rondo certainly looks like he is recovering from ACL injury and he gave all he could while he was in the Celtics this season.

What a dog.
He was playing with actual NBA players tonight. Hard to look good leading the league in assists passing to KO and Bass.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Mudiay please.

How scary would a Mudiay/Smart backcourt be in a couple of years?

I'm holding on judgment on Smart because he's a hardworker, but I have not been impressed. He's supposed to be this great prospect but so far, he hasnt been. Although defensively, he's living up to that potential.

Speaking about Monta Ellis, he's on the books for 2 years for Avery Bradley type money ($8.3 million, $8.7 million)... just in case you wondered.

Well, there's a good chance we'll have the 4th most amount of ping pong balls this May, so I'm hopeful....

Smart showed nothing of consequence tonight. There's just nothing to get excited about there, except his tools that he is, at best, learning to use. Rondo made him his daddy tonight.

I'm not denying that. Maybe you misinterpreted my post. LOL. I don't want Chris Fraud on my team.
