Interesting reading 76ers fans take on this. Most of them are calling shenanigans.
Hmm don't know how to feel about the timing of all this. I'm very skeptical of this happening around the same time as KP6 gaining momentum and Russell canceling his workout with us. I don't question whether or not he had a setback, but I wonder if it's really minor and is being presented as something more serious to take attention away from the "Russell to Sixers" talk.
not sure how bad this can be considering they must have taken a CT scan a couple of months ago, and if you can believe what the FO is putting out, the concern is only about a perceived lack of progress from that CT scan (when he was cleared for playing) to the current one that comes after no reported pain or injury issues. like their disappointed that the the bone tissue isn't a little thicker. seems more like caution from a sophistication in sports medicine that would not be a part of the recovery regimen a few years ago. unless they're outright lying/covering up, which has not been their mo, this seems to indicated prolonging the rehab schedule rather than any drastic set back.
Consensus seems to be that this old minor news the team is sitting on, and they are trying to give the illusion that they are still open to take a big man. Why?... because they already have two franchise bigs and it's been widely known that DeAngelo Russell is their target. Problem is, the Knicks are desperate to get Russell... and the Knicks don't pick until #4. Knicks don't want Mudiay, because he doesn't fit into their triangle... it's Russell or bust. Interestingly enough, Russell just cancelled his workout with the 76ers. Some think there is a deal between the Lakers and Knicks where the Lakers will take Russell 2nd for the Knicks and still end up getting the guy they want (Okafor). The assumption being that the 76ers would let Okafor slip to 4th, because they don't need another big. But now with this info, they make it appear that they do need a big...
Sounds like a wild conspiracy theory to me. We'll see what happens.
