Cavani is everywhere trying to push the ball forward , finish , get theball back...although  it s impressive i think he is wasting too much energy.

It's the fourth game where he plays like this. It's amazing when you consider he's actually a target man.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

A deserved win for Colombia, who will now meet Brazil in the QFs. It's scary to imagine how good Colombia would look with a healthy Falcao.

Howard Webb (referee) not doing a good job. You can tell the refs are all very worried now about giving Brazil decisions in penalty after all the criticism the Japanese ref got for giving that penalty in the first game against Croatia.

Not officiating games properly anymore. Overly hard on Brazil.

After viewing the Hulk "handball" twice in slo-mo, I couldn't tell whether or not it was a correct call, so I think you have to give the referee some leeway on that one.  Other than that, I think Howie Webb did a very good job the rest of the match.  Okay, the yellow on Alves was wrong, but that was it.

Brazil cannot complain after being gifted the opening fixture against Croatia...

But so far their long balls are not working. They just giving the ball back to brazil. They need just for a while move the ball cause brazil is getting into rythm and missed a few very good chances.

I think it is their pressing and failure to win back the ball that is costing them.

No side has been able to press, especially high up the pitch, in this tournament.  The humidity and heat simply won't allow it.  You don't see fullbacks bombing up and down the wings much, either.

Really happy Brazil have gotten through this.

Disappointed one of these teams had to go out today. Two of my favourites in this World Cup. Pity they had to meet in first knockout stage.

Agree with this.  Chile are an excellent side.  Great and dramatic victory for Brazil, but will it prove to be a Pyrrhic one?  After 120 minutes plus pens in the midday heat and humidity, will they be easy pickings for Colombia?

Julio Cesar was great in that penalty shootout. Barely played this year. QPR ignored him. Moved to Toronto. Hardly any first team football. Stepped up huge in penalty shootout.

Bravo was very good too. Psyched out Brazil's guys with his antics. Pointing which direction he was going to go and getting inside their heads. I read that Barcelona have signed him. Paid ?9 million. 31 years old.

Love Julio Cesar.  Best keeper on the planet a few years ago with Inter.  Not a big lad, and doesn't always command his area, but he is a shotstopper par excellence.

Who will start - Bravo or ter Stegen?

I don't know. Never seen ter Stegen play.

Barca were pursuing ter Stegen for a long time so I presume he is the first choice. Bravo probably more of an insurance policy since he has already played in Spain for Real Sociedad for several years.

Funny moment when the kid holding schneider's hand turns and asks him 'and who are you??? '

I feel a bit sad for both teams playing now... they play for almost nothing since the winner will get eliminated by Greece at the next round :)

Most definitely ter Stegen. One of the best young keepers in the world, costs more money, was signed much earlier.
