I was going to start a thread like this... predict the trade.
I could really see us doing just about anything. I could see us swinging for an upgrade... someone like overpaid Eric Gordon. I could see us going for Afflalo. I could see Asik trade revisited. I could see us getting rid of players in pure salary dumps. I could see Wallace + Humph for Amare (saves Knicks money next year and saves us money the year after). I could see Green traded. I could see Rondo traded. I could see Bradley traded. I could see our picks traded. I think literally everything is on the table and I don't think Ainge has any concrete plan. I think it's very flexible.
But just to pull something out of my butt and throw it against a wall, I'll make the following guess:
To Bobcats: Rondo + Green + Wallace + Pressey
To Celtics: Gordon's expiring, Session's expiring, Kemba Walker, MKG, Biyombo, Portland's 2014 1st, Detroit's 2014 1st
To move Wallace we've gotta give up Rondo and Green? But we get 'compensated' with two picks that project to be about 16 and 25?
LarBrd that is 'hot garbage' for a trade idea.
I'd personally hunt Ainge down.
He could just tell Stevens to pull a tank job for the rest of the season and then trade Rondo on draft night.
We are going to stink either way if Green and Bass are gone. No need to make donations for useless salary space.
Most of you guys hate my trade idea. It's just my guess. It's highly unlikely to actually happen. But I think that's the kind of "overwhelming" offer that would get Ainge to pull the trigger on a Rondo trade. Bobcats probably wouldn't do it.
You undersold it, anyways...
That would be a nice trade for Boston all things considered. You'd dump Wallace's contract. You'd free up boatloads of cap flexibility by dumping Rondo and Green's contract. You'd get three capable players all under rookie deals:
23 year old Kemba Walker. Some think he's solid. I'm not a big fan.
20 year old MKG. I think he has a future. I'd much rather have him than Green.
21 year old Biyombo. I think he can turn into an elite rebounder/defender.
+ two 2014 picks.
It's not awful. I pulled it out of my butt. I give it a 1% chance of happening.
Such a trade would leave us with PG - Kemba, SG - Bradley, SF - MKG, PF - SUlly, C - Biyombo... four picks in the 2014 draft (one which should be a Top 3), Olynyk... and the cap space to sign 3 max contract players if 3 max contract players have any interest in joining a bunch of children. Lol
