Less than we all expect. Probably Bass or Humph traded. Green and Bradley both stay. If anything bigger was to happen though it'd be with the Bobcats and involve their pick.

Grande says C's could be surprise buyers.  Interesting.....

I saw that too but only for a major move to make us contenders, not for a few extra wins.  Problem is I don't really see a deal like that out there.  Hardly any star players are available now.  Maybe Melo or Love but I doubt it.

It probably takes multiple major moves to turn the Celtics into contenders.  At some point, the team will need to take that first step that makes it better than bad but not good enough to be a contender.

I was going to start a thread like this... predict the trade.

I could really see us doing just about anything.  I could see us swinging for an upgrade... someone like overpaid Eric Gordon.  I could see us going for Afflalo.  I could see Asik trade revisited.  I could see us getting rid of players in pure salary dumps.  I could see Wallace + Humph for Amare (saves Knicks money next year and saves us money the year after).  I could see Green traded.  I could see Rondo traded.  I could see Bradley traded.  I could see our picks traded.  I think literally everything is on the table and I don't think Ainge has any concrete plan.  I think it's very flexible.

But just to pull something out of my butt and throw it against a wall, I'll make the following guess:

To Bobcats:  Rondo + Green + Wallace + Pressey

To Celtics: Gordon's expiring, Session's expiring, Kemba Walker, MKG, Biyombo, Portland's 2014 1st, Detroit's 2014 1st
Awful stuff you have in your butt.

There are a lot more sellers than buyers with all the tanking that will be more apparent after the deadline, so I don't expect much. With 9-10 1st rounders and plenty of opportunity to have cap room for the summer of 2015, Ainge has a strong hand for standing pat.

Maybe Bass for 2nds with GSW with GSW using one of their trade exceptions. GSW bench sucks - we thin the PF position out and get some cap for this summer.  Not exactly compelling reasons to sell low, but DA might.  Othwerwise, I expect DA will be looking for good value back.

I don't see the Warriors bench sucking. Barnes, Ezeli, Crawford, O'Neal and the uber-Bass in Speights. It's actually funny because Speights is their own Bass.

Speights has been awful and GS's bench is indeed 29th I beileve in scoring.

See, this is why I like LC. Logical posts like this are lacking with all the hyperbole statements on this blog.

Three years ago DA traded 1/3 of the team (5 guys), including KP.  This situation is a little different, but one can't presume DA won't do something dramatic.

The problem though is we traded for stars in their early 30s.  Some stars that could be available like Melo and Love are under 30 so who knows it could take even more assets to get them.  Also the minute we decide to trade off our number pick to get better, it automatically becomes less valuable with assumption we would be making a playoff push.  It might be better to do all in type deals on draft day/offseason just like our Ray KG trades.   We might still have to wait  years anyway until some of these stars are around 30 like my dream with Durant.

So in short I think we are more likely to be sellers than buyers, especially where there could be more buyers for role players on a playoff team.

Bradley gets traded

it's very possible.

if you remember DA traded perkins after perkins rejected an extension and was about to become a free agent, which is exactly avery's situation, so it's totally possible.

you have to wonder is DA wants to pay over 6 million dollars a year for someone who has a per rating of 12 or 13.  and it's not like we are in a championship window so it's necessary to keep him to not mess up chemistry and win a title.

perhaps bass and avery both get traded?

either way, i think DA will pull off a 3 team deal if he pulls anything off.  A three team deal to get back Asik, or a better player than the ones he is sending out.

According to reports Asik is getting close to playing again, which is hilarious that it comes out right before the trade deadline - possibly to spark interest? Meaning Morey still wants to move him...

Bradley and Bass for Asik work $$$-wise.

Sounds like B and B both fit Houston's needs according to an article today:

http://fansided.com/2014/02/14/nba-trade-rumors-rockets-looking-acquire-two-way-guard/

Quote
While a power forward and perimeter player able to create off the dribble have been reported interests, according to the Houston Chronicle, a player who can defend the wing and hit jumpers is at the top of the Rockets wish list.

Morey would not discuss goals for the trade deadline, but several other individuals with knowledge of the team’s thinking said the Rockets already sought to land a backup wing who is strong defensively and can catch-and-shoot, rather than a power forward (considered a priority before the season) or a perimeter player who creates off the dribble.

It’s not known as to what the Rockets are offering up for such a player, though, an assumption would be Omer Asik given the Rockets attempts to trade him earlier this season.

Or Green and Bradley for Asik and Montejunas?

And Ezeli's been injured too. The real problem, as you point out with their scoring, is that Golden State's offense and defense essentially die with Curry and Iguodala off the court.

Bass and bradley for Asik is a deal i'd do in a second. Do we get worse in the short term though? Better? I dont know.

Worse.

On D we stay about the same. Bradley and Green are good defenders at 2 positions, but we gain D at center with Asik. To me that's a wash.

Offensively, we're worse, and scoring has been an issue for us all year.

Trade machine has us at -4 wins with this deal.

Plus the roster is even more unbalanced with 6 really big guys.
