I question whether Ainge values draft picks likely to be low-draft picks (23-32) over proven in-their-prime players like Bass and Humphries. Chances of getting players of their ilk or better with those low picks are not good. Next Fab Melo, Johnson, Giddens, or Marshon? (21 is a good number though!)
...
I don't think the primary motivation for moving Bass and Humphries would be the return we get for them.  The primary motivation is improving our own pick.

I was going to start a thread like this... predict the trade.

I could really see us doing just about anything.  I could see us swinging for an upgrade... someone like overpaid Eric Gordon.  I could see us going for Afflalo.  I could see Asik trade revisited.  I could see us getting rid of players in pure salary dumps.  I could see Wallace + Humph for Amare (saves Knicks money next year and saves us money the year after).  I could see Green traded.  I could see Rondo traded.  I could see Bradley traded.  I could see our picks traded.  I think literally everything is on the table and I don't think Ainge has any concrete plan.  I think it's very flexible.

But just to pull something out of my butt and throw it against a wall, I'll make the following guess:

To Bobcats:  Rondo + Green + Wallace + Pressey

To Celtics: Gordon's expiring, Session's expiring, Kemba Walker, MKG, Biyombo, Portland's 2014 1st, Detroit's 2014 1st
Awful stuff you have in your butt.

There are a lot more sellers than buyers with all the tanking that will be more apparent after the deadline, so I don't expect much. With 9-10 1st rounders and plenty of opportunity to have cap room for the summer of 2015, Ainge has a strong hand for standing pat.

Maybe Bass for 2nds with GSW with GSW using one of their trade exceptions. GSW bench sucks - we thin the PF position out and get some cap for this summer.  Not exactly compelling reasons to sell low, but DA might.  Othwerwise, I expect DA will be looking for good value back.

To move Wallace we've gotta give up Rondo and Green? But we get 'compensated' with two picks that project to be about 16 and 25?

LarBrd that is 'hot garbage' for a trade idea.
I'd personally hunt Ainge down.
He could just tell Stevens to pull a tank job for the rest of the season and then trade Rondo on draft night.
We are going to stink either way if Green and Bass are gone. No need to make donations for useless salary space.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Read that last line again. One more time.

Jeff Green will, in fact, be traded for Omer Asik. Omer Asik will play less than 10 games this season.

-OR-

Jeff Green will be traded to Memphis for Tayshaun Prince and a late 1st round pick.

...

Vitor Faverani will be dumped in an unceremonious exchange of D-leaguers and/or meaningless second round picks.

...

Brandon Bass will be traded to the Blazers for some combination of Dorell Wright, Thomas Robinson, and Meyers Leonard. The Blazers are buyers.

...

Everyone else will stay put. Humphries and Bayless will leave for free agency. Bradley will re-sign. Anthony and Wallace will stay put. Bogans will get swapped for something irrelevant in the off season and then waived.

Lol...I was just kinda coming up with random trade ideas. If Rondo is dealt though, could the Celts get a better deal? At least in that Knicks deal you also clear Wallace's contract off the books and set yourself up for HUGE cap space in 2015 (think Kyrie, Love, Aldridge, Gasol, etc.) You also make yourself worse this year to the point where you could end up with a top 3 pick (Wiggins or Parker.)

Just curious..I don't mean to undersell Rondo, I am just wondering if there's a better deal out there and if so, what is it?

To me if I was planning on contending this year ,  the player I'd want from th Celtics is ..... DA  Hump.

I bet several teams are wanting him some kinda bad. ....great energy off the bench .

If I'm Danny ,  I just wait it out till I get the price I want .......a first round pick ....I'm sure ..........otherwise he is a good guy , nice player and wouldn't mind him sticking around another year.

I'd get what I could for Bass .,  when I could.

Green is role player ,  he needs to go to a contender for a first Round pick ........not a player to build around.

Rather see Green and Bass exit than Hump

Suns are loaded with picks ...I'd suck up to them and see what they want ...other than Sully or Rondo .

I predict Rondo could be traded and combined with picks o move up a notch or two in the draft and ...if Stevens doesn't see to the team getting a nice tank tthese next 30 game or so.

If DA can get to Dante Exum ......Rondo is history.

Speaking of Asik, he's actually been playing again lately.

Parsons is being paid peanuts , and playing better than Green .......something has to give .........he is going to get huge offers ...I don't see how the Rockets can afford to keep Lin, Asik , Parsons ?...all these expensive players and stay under the cap .doesn 't seem likely .

I'll predict the Celtics do a deal that does not bring back a first-round pick.

Bass gets traded on deadline day for an expiring and minor future value; Green is shopped very heavily and there are credible rumors about him leaving town, but ultimately a deal that gives the Celtics a significant return cannot be completed, and he remains here until at least draft day.

Most of you guys hate my trade idea.  It's just my guess.  It's highly unlikely to actually happen.  But I think that's the kind of "overwhelming" offer that would get Ainge to pull the trigger on a Rondo trade.   Bobcats probably wouldn't do it.

You undersold it, anyways...

That would be a nice trade for Boston all things considered.  You'd dump Wallace's contract.  You'd free up boatloads of cap flexibility by dumping Rondo and Green's contract.  You'd get three capable players all under rookie deals:

23 year old Kemba Walker.  Some think he's solid. I'm not a big fan.

20 year old MKG.  I think he has a future.  I'd much rather have him than Green.

21 year old Biyombo.  I think he can turn into an elite rebounder/defender.

+ two 2014 picks.

It's not awful.  I pulled it out of my butt.  I give it a 1% chance of happening.

Such a trade would leave us with PG - Kemba, SG - Bradley, SF - MKG, PF - SUlly, C - Biyombo... four picks in the 2014 draft (one which should be a Top 3), Olynyk... and the cap space to sign 3 max contract players if 3 max contract players have any interest in joining a bunch of children.  Lol
