Houston wouldn't want Avery , won't start at PG, and def not starting at SG, unless they have harden starting the point which I doubt, there essentially trading for two bench players, which I think they rather keep asik.

I hope that we wont end up in a deal where we are acquiring Omer Asik.
Honestly the dude isnt even that good, and worst of all is that he is getting paid like 15 million next year. I sincerly hope that we wont acquire Omer Asik, some of yall are overrating him too much, sorry to say.

While I can see where you're coming from, I think they would want AB.

If they are looking for that perimeter defender who can spot up and shoot, and not necessarily create his own shot, that sounds exactly like AB.

Doesn't sound like they want this player to start though, because I agree with you that he won't start over Harden or Lin, but I can see them seeing AB as a very valuable 6th man who can come in and change the complexion of a game with his D and spot-up shooting.

Harden is a very ball dominant two. He averages almost 6 assists per game. Bradley can get Harden's backup minutes (probably about 10 per game) and also play alongside Harden who can drive and dish to AB. He could easily get 24-28 minutes per game and go all out for that time.

Ya think , not me?  I'm just feeling a stalemate with the various GM...'s.  ..."....I got this feeling the Celtics are going to look the same at the deadline .  Unless somebody ponies up for Bass or we get Asik.   Not sure about the rest of the league

I think some crazy trades could happen on draft night ......league wide.......anybody might get traded by GM's with a crush on a player like Embiid.

Hopefully Wallace is moved this coming year.

Grande says C's could be surprise buyers.  Interesting.....

I saw that too but only for a major move to make us contenders, not for a few extra wins.  Problem is I don't really see a deal like that out there.  Hardly any star players are available now.  Maybe Melo or Love but I doubt it.

It probably takes multiple major moves to turn the Celtics into contenders.  At some point, the team will need to take that first step that makes it better than bad but not good enough to be a contender.

See, this is why I like LC. Logical posts like this are lacking with all the hyperbole statements on this blog.

We didn't do that at all though with the KG and Ray trades.  I don't think will look at a bandaid type deal for a short term small improvement.  If he can't strike gold I think he'll just go on his way collecting more assets.  Maybe look at buy low guys in trades.

At 15 million he's expensive for the owners but his cap hit is only 8 million so he's excellent for building a contender. He's a very good role player and playing with Rondo would increase his trade value immensely. Kind of guy that helps attract free agents as a complementary piece. Can you think of anyone of his caliber with only  8 million against the cap?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

My best and final prediction for this deadline:

Bass and Bradley for Asik and a second rounder (or Isiah Canaan).

We'll soon find out.  I wish there were more trade rumblings.

Fo' mo day.

Bradley and Bass for Asik work $$$-wise.

Sounds like B and B both fit Houston's needs according to an article today:

http://fansided.com/2014/02/14/nba-trade-rumors-rockets-looking-acquire-two-way-guard/

Quote
While a power forward and perimeter player able to create off the dribble have been reported interests, according to the Houston Chronicle, a player who can defend the wing and hit jumpers is at the top of the Rockets wish list.

Morey would not discuss goals for the trade deadline, but several other individuals with knowledge of the team’s thinking said the Rockets already sought to land a backup wing who is strong defensively and can catch-and-shoot, rather than a power forward (considered a priority before the season) or a perimeter player who creates off the dribble.

It’s not known as to what the Rockets are offering up for such a player, though, an assumption would be Omer Asik given the Rockets attempts to trade him earlier this season.

Or Green and Bradley for Asik and Montejunas?

Bass and bradley for Asik is a deal i'd do in a second. Do we get worse in the short term though? Better? I dont know.

Worse.

On D we stay about the same. Bradley and Green are good defenders at 2 positions, but we gain D at center with Asik. To me that's a wash.

Offensively, we're worse, and scoring has been an issue for us all year.

Trade machine has us at -4 wins with this deal.

Plus the roster is even more unbalanced with 6 really big guys.

We could likely include Faverani or the guy from Miami with Bass and Bradley?.

I think we have to wait 60 days in order to combine Joel Anthony in a trade.

I did read somewhere that ainge wants to get significantly better at the trade deadline. he doesnt want to get better by 3 wins, but significantly better.

so obviously he's looking for something significant, but whether he finds it is another thing.

as i said above, bass and bradley work for asik.  however, i dont think he wants to include bradley in the deal.

i think he thinks he can get more for bradley, and therefore i see bradley being moved to a team for 2 players, one player going to houston with bass and one coming to the celtics, or bradley for a player and a pick, and the player going to houston with bass, and ainge keeping the pick.

three team trade.

Meaning he's not going to make a trade that will take us from 5th worst team to 10th worst team.

More likely he makes a trade that will take us from 5th worst team to 3rd worst team.

I agree .......I think this is why he is not going to trade for Asik .............unless he can steal him.........before the end of the season..........trading for more good players will screw up his pick

I would bet DA makes the team worse than better in the short run......that means not adding stars, scorers,  centers that are good.

G

Well if you can trade green for asik , I don't think it hurts the tank. We would have no scoring at all

I totally agree.  Houston cannot get a decent PG that will dominate the ball as almost all great PG's do, since Harden will continue to dominate the ball.  This team will be designed to compliment James, not compete with him for the ball.  Avery is a perfect compliment to their needs.  They need a guard known for defense.  Is there a better guard known for his defense that is accessible and hits a nice percentage from three??  Not that I can think of.  Tony Allen is a GREAT defender, but his outside shot has NEVER been great.  Avery would likely be allowed to go back to becoming the one-man-full-court-press that he was known for the last two years in Houston.  I would venture that they make this trade MORE to pick up Bradley than Bass, if that is the trade.  I am with many of you in that I think Houston will want Hump and NOT Bass.
