Nothing is going to happen outside of something really small. This includes a salary dump using the TPE for picks and then cutting Pressey. Other than that nothing happens. Which is terrible since Ainge should be in full tank mode

My master-of-the-obvious prediction:

Ainge's cell phone's so hot it's nearly melting right now trying to dump Bass, Green, Anthony and Wallace (in consecutive order of likelihood)... but the only one he can manage to ship is Bass.

None of the expirings are bringing anything meaningful back (though Hump might be in sneaky demand -- maybe a 2nd).

Its going to be an epic trade deadline.

Bass to Houston for Asik

Rondo and Wallace to NY Knicks for Stoudemire, Felton, Hardaway Jr.

Green and Humphries to Charlotte for Sessions, Gordon, and a 1st round draft pick

Bradley and Anthony to Phoenix for Okafor and 1st round draft pick

Green and Bass to Charlotte for the Detroit pick.

I predict this is a total fantasy.

Actually, no need for the prediction part... this is a total fantasy.

What's so ridiculous about it?

What's the comp under the current CBA for taking this much salary for marginal talent, and getting a lottery pick back? It doesn't exist.

I've posted this deal with a lesser pick (Green + Bass for Gordon + Taylor or POR 1st) before, and been panned for how bad it is for the Cs, but the fact is if you want a good pick + expirings, you need a better offering than Green or Bass. Trying to trade both at once makes it worse not better.

Jeff Green's a marginal talent? What does that mean?

Green would be their third best player, and Bass might be their starting 4. That pick isn't even guaranteed to be in the lottery.

I guess I disagree with you that Green's contract leaves him with little to no value.

That's cool. So keep him. But ur not getting a pick that good for #UncleSnoozeButton. And your not getting a pick that good for #NoPassBass.

I once hoped that the two combined might yield the POR pick from CHA, but based on what I've read that's even a reach.

I think the best chance of getting that POR pick would be Bass and Hump for Gordon and Brandon Haysomething. The Horcats are still to dedicated to MKG to take on Uncle Snoozey.

brandon bass for an uninspiring return.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Asik gets moved to Boston for Jeff Green in a 3-way deal, or Monroe and pieces comes to Boston for Green and a future 1st

I'm in with the "nothing" crowd....just seem to be more sellers than buyers, and the buyers have little to barter with....

There seems to be a nice bunch of new kids coming in to the NBA . Team s seem ready to dump  role players to move up .

The east is down on elite talent .  So many so so players piled up  on all these bad eastern teams.

I saw that too but only for a major move to make us contenders, not for a few extra wins.  Problem is I don't really see a deal like that out there.  Hardly any star players are available now.  Maybe Melo or Love but I doubt it.

Nothing happens.  Ainge is trying to charge full value for players everyone knows are garbage.

Probably true for the most part.  I think Ainge will unload Bass for very little return because there's value in opening up salary flexibility for next year and also clearing some playing time for Olynyk.
