CT32, I wanna give you some food for thought:

Chris Paul has already left one NBA franchise because he felt they weren't willing to make the moves to give him a chance to win. Let's say the Clippers pull out of this deal. They not only pass on Doc, but also a serious roster upgrade in KG.

What happens when CP3 starts his free agency tour, and meets with Daryl "Wonderkid" Morey & Coach McHale in Houston or Coach Carlisle & Mark "Deep Pockets" Cuban in Dallas and they pitch him on being willing to make those big moves. Do you really think he doesn't at least consider it?

I think that this is the first time in his career that he's paired with a young superstar in blake, in a large market. He left that franchise cause they were more focused on rebuilding and saving money. That's not the case with the clippers. If this deal doesn't go through, the clippers still get a new coach that cp3 likes, along with better developed dj, bg, and bledsoe. Completely different situation than in new orleans.

But not a completely different situation than last year in which you did worse in the playoffs than the year before...CP wants to be on a contender and that team you have now is not a contender.

a new coach makes a huge difference with this squad

That's what New Orleans thought when they dumped, ironically, Byron Scott with CPs first team.

so Doc and a 37 year old KG (who we don't even know will survive next season) are gonna make the clipps a contender? getting hollins and improving DJ won't do that?

Make no mistake about, KG - even at 37 - is a far superior player than Deandre. Unless Deandre magically developes an 18-foot jumpshot to create better floor spacing, transforms into a game-changing defensive force, and is able to be played in the fourth quarter,  you're asking a heck of a lot from him. Deandre doesn't quite have the BBIQ to make that kind of leap.

Look up their playoff stats and defensive metrics from the past 2 playoffs alone, and with a straight face say he isn't a major upgrade.

look up at my post. im not questioning kg's skill, im question his health. not really a very smart thing to give up a young player with potential for an aged vet who very well might not make it to the next playoffs. I think ALSO another reason why the clippers aren't offering more than jordan and the first pick.

Um, yeah. That's why CP wants the deal to happen. You can't even keep Jordan on the floor. He got benched. Just look at their stats, man. KG makes players around him better.

where did cp3 himself say that he wants the deal to happen

again, if cp3 said that he wants doc and kg, management would take both terry and lee, and probably give bledsoe to you guys. the clippers not being desperate tells me that cp3 said no such thing, and that the earlier rumors that he likes hollins is again shown

Just got done. It keeps getting worse and worse. Danny looks incredibly desperate which isn't a good thing notwithstanding the trade itself.

Boston has dropped its pursuit of guard Eric Bledsoe, but wants two draft picks as compensation for Rivers, sources said. Rivers has decided that he doesn't want to be a part of the Celtics' rebuilding process, and has requested that Boston work out a compensation package to allow him to go the Clippers.

It's going to get done. Doc can in no way come back now

It seems like Danny wants something in addition to Jordan for KG, every time he suggests something (Bledsoe, Trading Lee/Terry and an extra pick) they say no. As a Celtic fan their unwillingness to compromise is really annoying me.

Not worried.  Plenty more packaging to be done.  In the end, we'll get a bunch of picks and be horrible next year and pick up a major piece.

Why is Danny allowing our franchise to not only get punked but punked by the Clipper organization?!

better be picks in 2014 and 2016 (unprotected)

2014 = deep draft
2016= Clippers could suck again by then

First, you are now changing your position because you initially said LAC had all the leverage and now you are simply saying the Cs want the deal merely more than the Clips.

Second, this is a better deal than recently identified because when you are rebuilding you want to tank and stockpile picks. So, this is actually Danny upping the ante from DAJ, Butler, and 1 pick...

Is this the longest thread in Celtics blog history?

Nah, I think NBA Regular Season threads are the longest. But man I'm shocked about how long this one went though!
