I would also love thoughts on my rotations/minutes distributions, (though I know not everyone is familiar with my rookies - the starters, anyway). TPs and thanks in advance!

I think you're playing the right guys, and about the right number of minutes, although I would up Lopez's, and probably Hickson's as well.  I might experiment with Garcia in the starting lineup in place of Turner, but overall, there's nothing too crazy there.

I'd second the idea of not starting Turner. I think he always looked his best in Philly when he had a chance to do something with the ball.

I don't think with Harris/Melo on the court with him for most of his minutes he'll get that opportunity enough.

I might have said this earlier. I can't remember. But I like Evan Turner as your sixth man and F.Garcia as your sixth man.

I think Turner will be able to have a larger role offensively coming off the bench because fewer of his minutes will come with all three of Melo + D.Harris + B.Lopez on the court at the same time. That trio will eat a lot of offensive possessions and leave Turner in a smaller role than his talents deserve.

As for Garcia, a decent defender and long range marksman. Nice glue guy for the starting unit.

I would also like to see Evan Turner get more playing time. I think Turner is your second best wing by a large margin and would look to get him close to starters minutes (32+mpg).

Something like -- F.Garcia for 24 minutes a night at SG and E.Turner for the other 24 at SG + the 10 minutes at SF while Melo rests.

-----------------------------------

I am pessimistic on the rookies so that plays a big role in what I'd like to see you do + why I have you third in your division.

In the above, I dropped K.Thompson from the rotation to get more playing time for E.Turner and also F.Garcia. I would also increase Devin Harris' + Brook Lopez' minutes to around 35 minutes a night.

JJ Hickson's minutes would depend on whether he continues to rebound well or not. If he does, then he should be playing 34-36 minutes a night. If he doesn't, then somewhere around 26-30 minutes sounds about right. With H.Warrick taking the backup PF minutes.

Although, I say that (my pessimistic outlook on the rookies) with the exception of J.Fredette who I think has a shot at stealing J.Bayless' minutes as backup PG.

Thanks. I probably would've put Jimmer at back-up PG but for the Rookie (??) pessimism I'll already be facing with the other players. I agree that it's a hard thing to get past, because it's an unknown quantity.

However, I've watched these particular rookies with great interest over the last couple of years, and done a fair amount of homework on them. I think, when all is said and done that, if nothing else, people will come away with a much better feeling about the futures of these four kids.

I like splitting the minutes more with Garcia and Turner, (having Turner as the swingman from SG to SF) ... not sure about starting Garcia, but I will give it some more thought, as both you and Roy mentioned it, (just noticed Faf did s well).

Need thoughts on my rotation, where/if I should make changes.

PG: Lowry (37), Sessions (11)
SG: Harden (32), Morrow (16)
SF: Delfino (25), Derrick Williams (13), Jonas Jerebko (10)
PF: Amar'e Stoudemire (24), Derrick Williams (15), Jonas Jerebko (6)
C: Andrew Bogut (32), Amar'e Stoudemire (10), Robin Lopez (6)

Deep Bench: Gerald Hendersen, Anthony Tolliver, Patty Mills

I'd increase Harden and Lopez' minutes and half Jerebko's

... and then half Jerebko's again after you give Delfino the 30 minutes or so per game he deserves. ;)

Yeah, Delfino deserves considerably more run than Jerebko, IMO.  I mean considerably

New tentative rotation:

PG: Lowry/Sessions/Mills
SG: Harden/Morrow/Hendersen
SF: Defino/Derrick Williams/Jerebko
PF: A Stoudemire/Derrick Williams/Jerebko/Tolliver
C: Bogut/Stoudemire/R Lopez/Tolliver

Remember that big long point you were gonna make about how I didn't have a legitimate proven backup center in case Bogut went down at all?

Well now I have Robin Lopez, a 7ft defensive energy monster with starting expereince. He's not Andrew Bogut, but as far as guys who you'd like to pair next to Amar'e he's about as good a choice as you're going to find in a reserve role. Next to Amar'e, he posted the 8th best trueshooting percentage among centers.

How ya livin?

Question for IP,

If Bogut goes down with a season-ending injury, tell me why this team is any better than the pre-Carmelo NY Knicks (a .500 team).  If he stays relatively healthy (let's say 65+ games), how many wins do you feel he'd bring to the table?  His win shares (while not a perfect statistic) over his career are 5.5, 4.0, 4.8, 2.6, 7.5, 5.4.

IP, any thoughts to having Harden play some time at 3? You'd be undersized for sure, but I kinda really like the idea of Lowry, Morrow and Harden sharing the court.

Very flexible in that respect, and comfortable at either position, this is an ideal role for Klay, and he could easily be given more minutes should he prove the formidable force we're expecting he'll be).

I actually like that idea a lot also.  Especially with Williams at the 4 and Amare at the 5 when playing against a team without a guy who can defend Amare.

I'd be looking to ship Jerryd Bayliss.  Kid has some talent, which is wasted getting only 6 mins or so per game.

He is an agressive point, who has good range.  If you can package him and Hakim Warrick for a handy big man (Kurt Thomas) or 2. You will need a good character  guy also if you can score one.  KT would be ideal.

Gibson is a barely capable point, but you could always have Carmello bring up the ball.

Also, Fredette will prob need more mins, as you are a young team that should be trying to develop that you talent.
