Moss is gone; traded to Vikings for 3rd rounder

Question, is there a single team in the league that turns down Moss for a third rounder?  Why send him to the Vikes who we see in week 8? 

My guess is that any team trading for Moss needs to be assured he's happy, or pay him upfront.

That probably limited the number teams who'd make the trade.

Needless to say i just picked up Tate.  Im in a league where return yards count too haha

I think your looking at Givens 2005-2006 numbers and Caldwell 2007 numbers.

Well, 3rd option at best, right?  I'm assuming that Welker and the tight ends will get the majority of the targets.  Still, Tate should have something similar to Austin Collie value, I would imagine.

I think part of this decision involved the Pats moving back to a ball control offense that has more short passes and spreads the ball around to everyone.  I think Welker will still be the top option, just because he is that good at getting open, and has that trust from Brady.  Beyond that though, I think Brady will really just be looking for the open reciever.  I think there will be a lot of guys with between 30 and 50 catches, and not many guys much over that.

Moss wasn't lighting it up this year though, I don't think Tate's targets will go up to make him all that valuable in fantasy.

I think Chris is right, that Brady will be spreading the ball around too much for him to be a clear fantasy play.

Yeah, apparently this is a fairly obscure rule.  The Steelers were burned by it when they lost Alan Faneca (it had been widely reported that they were in line for a 3rd rounder).

So, a season of Moss + a 2012 5th rounder, or Moss' salary and a 2011 3rd.  I would have still kept Moss.

If we do something with these picks THIS season to get a shutdown corner, then I see the big picture (A humongous if. If not, why not just hold on to the guy and try to work out his issues. A third round pick will not make or break our rebuilding effort. Losing Moss jst cost us a trip to the playoffs.

Even if they were not SB contenders, as a fan I feel that we deserve an explanation to why we are giving up such a weapon while getting nothing to help the team in the short term OR the long term.

Too bad there terrible at drafting since they put bill in charge. No picks from 2006 draft left, 2007 pretty much a bust. 2008 only what, 2 players out of a draft they had a ton of picks in are any good? (mayo+Chung)

This is a horrible trade, plan and simple. They could have let him walk at the end of the year.
