It wouldn't surprise me if Ainge signed Delonte West and then traded Avery Bradley in a deal for Rudy Fernandez.

hmm, interesting. can Rudy play the 3? He seems like the right fit for a shooting guard but a bit lean for a 3. and can we trade Avery Bradley already?

and most importantly, i'm not even sure if i'd like Delonte back even though he's better than Wafer (and probably Marquis). Doc can deal with fiery headcases (Nate), but i dont know if Doc's skill extends to people with real clinical issues like Delonte. "Doc" is after all, just a nickname. He's not a real doctor or anything.

I know you can't trade free agents until Dec. 15.  I'd assume there's a moratorium on signed draft picks as well (but I admit I don't know the details)

I believe a draft pick can be traded 30 days after they are signed. Bradley signed July 2nd.

I'm kind of excited to see what Bradley can do, but he would be expendable with the addition of West.  Too bad Delonte isn't a couple inches taller- then the expendables would become Wafer or Daniels.

Rudy can play SF.  He has in the past.  Certainly it isn't optimal with all of the matchups, but especially against reserve SF's it should be fine and would create matchup problems in the open court and on O for us, if it does create some on D for us too.  Though with our deep frontcourt, a lot of those size issues on defense with a smaller lineup at the SF position could be negated.

A Rondo/Nate/Rudy 1-2-3 would be pretty awesome running the floor and getting into passing lanes with tons of energy.

Ughh, if we ever got rid of Bradley because of Delonte I would be seriously dissapointed.  Delonte is pretty good, don't get me wrong, but Avery Bradley was right up there with John Wall as a basketball prospect.  He had a poor situation in Texas, and I think he has a ton of potential.  Even if he doesn't reach it, I think he'll definitely be a better player than Delonte.

If we're getting Rudy out of the deal then it gets more intriguing, but I wouldn't do it.  Delonte is too much of a headcase now.  Maybe a different player, not him though.

I would be VERY surprised though if that happend.  Ainge is very high on Bradley.  Even though he wasn't at a position of need, he said "I can't let Avery fall any further".  Maybe he partially looked at it as "I'll take the best talent for the value here", with the idea of maybe trading him, but that doesn't quite seem to be how he's looking at it.

Some are looking at Avery as our back up PG, but I see him as our SG of the future.  He and Rondo as your 1/2 are a bit undersized, but both are longer than their height and would play tenacious D (lol) and run the floor faster than any combo I can think of.

I would be p---ed if we traded Bradley.  The main reason for drafting him was for his potential upside for the future.  That was the reason I was ok with the pick.  He is young, but could be a starter on this team 3 years from now. It fits with the idea of extending the championship window while still looking for the future.
If the Celtics were looking for more short term needs they should have drafted Damion James.  He would have fit the need at the wing position, and as a Texas Longhorn fan he appears to be more ready to play in the NBA straight from Day 1.  The downside to James is his limited ceiling.

In my opinion, Avery Bradley is one of the pieces that Ainge wants to build the team around for the future.  He might not pan out, but I can't see them trading him before he even plays.

I seriously doubt this.

Ainge values defensive players and he said Bradley can play NBA high quality defense NOW. He's not going to throw away the potential of a player who was the top rated senior coming out of high school for a career back up SG.

So you're saying Delonte is better than Daniels? Lol, I'm not sure if we need another 2-guard right now after re-signing Marquis.

Shouldn't we instead try to find a back-up for Pierce? Not trying to knock West or anything, however as you mentioned he is a little under-sized to be playing the three. Also, there's the fact that he'd be suspended for 10 games at the start of the upcoming season; I'm not sure if this is someone the Celtics would want on their roster if they were trying to compete for another ring.

I don't think Danny is willing to trade, in effect, two first round picks for Rudy. He's been reported as offering one, I don't see Bradley being moved in addition to a pick.

West at the minimum is a deal. But i’m not for the idea of getting him, then getting rid of Bradley for a wing. Bradley is 19 years old, he’s a mid first round pick with a defensive mind, he was rated the #1 high school player ahead of John Wall. You don’t replace 19 year old potential with 27 year old career role players, at least not when your looking through the doorway of a rebuilding phase.

Delonte West would be the worst pickup in the big 3 era. our backcourt is already full and we want minutes for avery to develop... adding a headcase would only hurt the team more than it would help. i agree with the people who say we need a 2/3 (who can shoot and is a versatile wing defender). delonte does not fit that bill

SIGN HIM NOW.

He defends better than our highly touted all star point guard.
and he can SHOOT the ball.
