From Red's Army, which made a "resume" of some rumor heard on the Sports Hub... take it with a grain of salt and for what it's worth (but considering the need for a shooter and the fact that Delonte still hasn't find a team, it's easy to see why he would be in Boston) :

It was a fleeting moment a few minutes ago on 98.5 The Sports Hub... but it's interesting to us.

A listener texted the Toucher & Rich show to say Delonte West was spotted at Logan Airport and he's in town for a workout.

So are the Celtics really looking to add Delonte to the mix with their last roster spot?  I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I don't know why we would sign him.  He has been a headcase now.  The gun charge was undisputably crazy (guns in a guitar case??) and then there is the whole Gloria James thing...

But foremost, we need a SF/SG, not a PG/SG.  We do not need a combo guard now, even if he can shoot.  I hope we look for better options.

We sign him for the sole reason of chanting "Who's your daddy?" at Lebron on opening night.

West would be an excellent addition to our wing depth. I'd prefer a 2/3 to a 1/2 but he can play.

I know you're joking  ;D

But seriously, that is probably the most dispicable move you could make as a teammate.  If it really is true I don't know how LeBron didn't tear Delonte limb from limb.  I don't want a guy who could do that wearing Green again.

I think he can play, but yes there is the personal issues.  And I'd look for a 3/2 (SF who can play SG) that is what we need.  You say "wing depth" but a combo guard is not a wing. He's a PG who can shoot and is physical enough to D up SGs (but often not optimally... this was hidden in Cleveland some by LBJ's ability to D up the opposing team's best player if he is a SG). So he doesn't solve the wing depth problem by his addition.

I mean, he allows us to play Quis and Wafer exclusively at SF more or less so he solves it in a sense, but I don't want him on the team and the whole reason to look for another player is to not rely on Quis and Wafer.  We need a 3/2.

I have no idea how the whole Gloria James thing gained any traction whatsoever... it started out as a totally bogus rumor. Then people began to refer to it in sarcastic jest. Then dumb people took it at face-value as absolute truth. Then it somehow became "fact."

*SIGH*
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I never said it was a fact but just something to think about.  I'm more concerned with the Desperado act... you're fine with that?  The guy has serious mental issues that are medically documented.

I don't believe it to be true by any means. But I feel like something happened to Lebron. He was obviously a changed man, and since leaving I don't think he's once said anything along the liens of thankyou to his teammates or that he'll miss them.

I don't think we want to rely on Wafer/Daniels as our backup 2/3s alone. West would be an excellent addition to the mix.

I like him better than most of the remaining 2/3s out there.

Agreed on not wanting those two as our backups alone, but again Delonte is not a 2/3.  He could never play SF, playing SG is already out of position.  He is a 1/2.  And we have Nate already as a PG who can shoot and play SG some, so IMO Delonte would be very redundant next to Nate and not as good as Nate will probably be this upcoming year (I think he'll keep that momentum from the Playoffs).

I'd rather have the SF who can play some SG.  That is what we need.

Worst case scenario, if Delonte ends up on the team, as long as he is right in the head we could have at least a very interesting 2nd team backcourt with Delonte and Nate playing 1/2.  Quis ( and some Wafer) at the SF then, BBD at PF and Shaq at C.  Would be interesting to watch.

The other advantage of having Delonte aboard is that he's another option behind Rondo for ten minutes a night, if Nate finds himself in Doc's doghouse again.  We all have concerns about Wafer and Daniels, but we all seem to forget that Nate was out of the rotation for a good amount of time last season.  Are we all completely convinced that he's absolutely, positively going to be a good soldier, play D, get the team in its offense, do all the things you need the backup PG to do?  I *think* he'll be fine, but it's still a risk.

Preference would be to have a bigger, defensive-minded SF behind Pierce, but I could live with Delonte.  If he's on his meds, we know he can play - not an All-Star, but he's a guy who does a lot of pretty good things on the court.

I think West would complement Nate very well. Offensively it takes a lot of pressure off Nate to create as West is a serviceable PG and vice versa.

Would love to bring Delonte in.  You never heard of his mental issues when he was with the C's.  No one knows how to handle Delonte better than Doc.  He is better than all of the unsigned 2/3's IMO.
