anyone who thinks Von Wafer would bring more to this team than Delonte would is incorrect. if i wasn't at work i would type more about it.

Nate, DWest, Quis, Baby, and Shaq would be a blast to watch

I tend to agree that Von Wafer probably won't bring much.  As I've written elsewhere, I view the Von Wafer signing as the Celtics "taking a flyer" on a prospect with a lot of potential.
Celtics fan for life.

It would also put any other sports related reality show to shame.  And while I generally don't like the in-game entertainment, I have a feeling Player Karaoke could be must see this season.

As for the Wafer vs. Delonte thing, I think there is a chance Wafer could be a very good player, if he can get his head straight, and learn to take coaching...but that is a huge if.  On the other hand, I don't feel that confident Delonte will be able to stay out of the mental ward (or jail) enough to be able to be counted on (and I am not trying to make a joke, I think it is a legitimate concern, given how he has started...or not started...the last couple seasons).

But, I suppose 2 kicks at the can with talented questionmarks is better than 1.  If they are willing to take the chance on Delonte, with the empty roster spot and vet minimum contract, I certainly can't argue with it.

This move makes no sense to me if it is going through.  Someone explain why we would EVER do this.  We need a backup 3/2 or 3/4.  Someone that has the size to backup Pierce, and either score or play D on the Lebron's/Kobe's out there.  Instead, we continually bring in these small PG types, or specialty players that don't pan out.  We tried Eddie House and then shipped him out because he didn't fit anymore.  Why sign a guy that doesn't shoot as well, plays primarily the 1, and has mental health issues?  SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME.

Couldn't agree more. Makes absolutely zero sense. Another undersized shooting guard who can't shoot, cant dribble, cant pass, and can play mediocre defense. Yet, we need him to defend the three spot which he cant do. Add another undersized swingman to the list playing out of position. Danny has made great moves this off season. If he signs Delonte, it should go down as his worst move ever.

Hard to agree - compared with Nate, he's certainly not undersized. He shoots better than Nate also.

If he doesn't pan out, he's gone.  If he does, it doesn't prevent getting that backup 3 through other means...

Whats the latest with Delonte? I was just reading he is looking for places in Boston? Sounds like he will be our backup 2 and let Daniels and Wafer be our backup 3's

If he's really in town. He'll be an excellent pick up for a vet minimum. He'll be the best PG back up. He's proven through the past years, mostly in Cleveland, that he can lead plays, pass/distribute, defend, slash the lane, consistently score from long range (which Rondo lacks and needs to include in his ammo for the seasons to come) and display grit, confidence and grace under pressure. These were evident in his years with LeBronze. He was a prick on us when we played against him and the Cavs.

Perfect back up for Rondo. Tall PG, quick, confident, experienced and most importantly, a long-distance shooter .

I think Delonte is a fine addition to the bench.  He is a multi-position player who knows the system.  I think he is a bit redundant though when you consider that we already have Nate, Bradley, Wafer, and Daniels on the bench (only 7 can be on the bench in uniform).  It makes me think one/some of these 4 are being discussed in a trade.  I can say that I would feel a whole lot better trading any of these guys knowing Delonte is on the bench.

The Herald gossip page.  I think it's linked on the front page.

People are saying that there are no SFs out there, but there are some REALLY good options that are being thrown around in trade rumors (Rudy, Prince etc...).  Even so, if you can't find someone you like at the 3 spot, why sign another undersized 2?  Where is he going to play?  Even if you don't think Nate and Avery are going to get on the court and Delonte will, we are signing players just to sit the bench then.  That gives us a team in which Quis HAS to work out, or PP HAS to play 42+ minutes in games for us to win.  Just doesn't seem to make sense to me.

We don't have the pieces to get Prince, and Rudy is really no more of a SF than Delonte is; he's a SG.  Also, if we could trade for a SF, why would have Delonte hurt, presuming that we're sending out roster players in that trade?  There would be room both for the new SF and for Delonte.

If we sign Delonte, it won't be to sit on the bench, it will be to upgrade the team.  Most likely, this would eventually lead to Von Wafer being cut if another SF became available, as he's only guaranteed $150k.

If there is going to be a move for a sf 6'6"-6'9" than I'm fine with DWest rejoining as a short combo guard off the bench.  That would mean moving Wafer at the least, having both those guys is redundant

Delonte should get minutes ahead of Wafer. Wafer was insurance before DW became available. Delonte will get significant minutes off our bench. Seems like it is going to happen. Kid can play. Can see him in backcourt with Nate. He has enough size to handle bench 2s in the league.
