hmmm von wafer, glen davis and semih arden in a trade can get us what?

It can get us a year with no back up for Kevin Garnett.

good call.

I am on record on this blog saying not to take the risk and that Delonte is too nuts to be counted on. Well for a non guaranteed deal ther is virtually no risk. I cant wait to root for this guy to get his life turned around. I always have loved the way he plays.

ditto.

He's talented and leaves it all on the floor. That's all you can really ask for. I think he's a great fit with what we're doing.

Don't mind at all as it appears to be non-quaranteed so there's really nothing to lose. Also as he can't play for the first 10 games anyway, that will give the Celtics some time to see what Wafer and/or Marquise can do.

Can't stand Delonte but he fills our biggest remaining need on the bench (a scorer/shooter) so I like the move. And to have him on a non guaranteed deal is good news too.

Maybe I will learn to like the guy. :P

Meh...I'm not gonna get too excited over this one. We're talking about a non-guaranteed deal here for a guy who is in essence battling for a roster spot with a guy who didn't even play in the league last year. I see a 10th man at best. IMO Bradley could probably fill this spot just fine. Doc says he already plays NBA caliber defense which is already probably better than Delonte who was never much of a defender his first time around and a dreadful ballhandler against even the slightest press. He's still the NBA's answer to Jim Abbott. After all these years he STILL can't go right. He's like the opposite of Derek Zoolander.

It wouldn't surprise me if Danny is just trying to do a favor by offering a guy down on his luck an invite to camp just to try to show other teams that he isn't crazy anymore.

I don’t understand why people generally dislike Delonte.

“i can’t stand him...”

i understand he’s done some crazy stuff but i can’t see him as not likable.

I wonder if Shaq put in a good word for him.  I'm sure Danny talked with him first, since they were teammates last season.

Yeah, imagine the locker room with Nate, Shaq, Delonte, BBD...those guys are having some fun this season.

As I've said before, I'm ambivolent when it comes to Delonte ... time will tell, I guess. Hopefully he's gotten the best of his emotional "issues", though they're still recent enough to worry me.

I think Danny's really rolling the dice on this one, but with an un-guaranteed contract, it takes a lot of the pressure off, and maybe adds some incentive for De to stay out of trouble. I hope it works out for him and us, but I'll have my fingers crossed on this one.

Here's to it working out on both ends!

Ive read and heard enough of the negatives about Delonte, now that he's here(Celtics)lets look at the positives he brings. Since leaving Boston he has developed a lot offensively. He brings some of the same intangibles J.Posey brought, but from a different position...to bad he's not 6'8".While playing for the cavs,he came up with some key steals in big games. He doesn't get rattled in big games.Delonte's rebounding ability  surprises you for his size.He can get his own shot and finish at the rim better than most role players in the NBA.Those are a few things i can think of off the top of my head.Delonte will be a great addition off the bench...keeping him focused on basketball most of the season is yet to be seen.

"If we gone play with a sock, we gone play with a sock!"

Haha, anyone remember this quote by Delonte? Man, I'm so amped right now, I really can't believe he's back. It feels like a dream! He is my favorite personality on the Celtics ever!

Shaq and Delonte were close in Cavs and they talked a lot. Delonte said Shaq is like his elder brother and mentor.

All I'm sayin is he still hasn't made the team yet. And he still has to prove he's not certifiable and capable of leaving the house not dressed up as The Terminator.
