I wonder if Portland would trade Joel Przybilla to save cap room?  They already have Oden and Camby to play.

I would love the Vanilla Godzilla on this team, but wasn't his injury career-threatening?  And I'm pretty sure Portland is looking to add talent with their expirings, not shed salary.

How about the Pistons as a trade target?  Charlie V would look pretty good as a Sheed replacement.  Not all too dissimilar to a young Sheed offensively, though nowhere near the defensive presence.  Not sure the Pistons are interested in straight salary dumps for anyone but Hamilton though.

Bill Simmon's predictions:
Quote
Possible candidates for a Sheed deal: Andris Biedrins, Troy Murphy, Tyson Chandler, Darius Songaila, even (gulp) Eddy Curry (if NYC throws in an enticement).

By my understanding of salaries and trade rules (up to 125% of salary + $100K) the only one that works is Songaila, so I don't know what Simmons is talking about.
Celtics fan for life.

Think Scal added in sign & trade with a non-guaranteed contract.  Receiving team waives Scal (who comes right back to Boston as assistant coach), retires or cheap buy-out of Sheed = huge salary savings.  Now we're just talking about money, Wyc's willingness to spend and the trading partner's owner's desperation to cut salary.  Golden State, New Orleans, and Charlotte are all eager to lower salary.

Just read that Detroit wants to unload Maxiell and Wilcox. Both would be great, but my ideal situation for our front court additions would be a trade of Sheed for Maxiell. Then sign Stromile Swift to the vet min since he wants to make an NBA comeback, preferably for a contender.

Next trade would be a sign/trade of Tony Allen and BBD to GSW for Anthony Morrow and Ronny Turiaf(add in a draft pick maybe)

Resign Nate and Ray, sign Travis Outlaw to MLE

Rondo - Nate - Bradley
Morrow - Ray - (Daniels)
Pierce - Outlaw - Harangody
KG - Swift
Maxiell - Perk - Semih Erden
Can't stop, Rondo!

1. Beasley for Wallace is a pipe dream.  Attitude aside, the likelihood that they could trade him to someone who

   a. Is not in the Eastern Conference and in their way
   b. Can part with a more attractive package

is pretty high.   He isn't coming to Boston.

2. Of the deals mentioned, I see something like a Rasheed Wallace for Andres Nocioni as a viable possibility.   I don't believe Andres is worth his contract, but he is a viable 2/3 backup / keeps the MLE from last year in use.

If they were looking to trade Beasley for Gomes in order to cut Gomes and save money, I don't think it's really a pipe dream and I don't think a more attractive package is in the works.

I'd say no to Swift, but Wilcox and Maxiell are enticing.

I've always salivated over Wilcox's potential as a fast break big, and Maxiell is almost as dangerous in that category.

Noc is no longer a viable 2/3 back-up.

And Beas for Sheed is only a pipe dream if the rumored Dooling-for-Beasley trade was a total falsehood.

Would anyone do Posey & Marcus Thornton for Sheed?

Posey expires the same year as KG and can take the Finley role on this team.  He's not the most efficient guy anymore but he can still hit the 3, crash the boards and make the smart defensive play.  Thornton could come in and take up the bench scoring mantle right away.

Not that interested in Thornton. A solid scorer but he is a poor defender, rebounder and passer. A marginal player who needs a lot of touches + shot attempts.

Thanks for the insight.  I've only seen him play a few times.

I'm not a huge fan of Nocioni, but the reason I'm saying that Beasley for Wallace is a pipe dream is because even IF the Dooling trade is true ... New Jersey isn't a threat in the Eastern Conference to Miami.   Boston is and I don't see them doing us a favor for the heck of it.

Love Maxiell. Aggressive, physical rebounder. Would be great off the bench.

Wilcox has lasted this long on the promise of sometime reaching his potential. He couldn'tbeat out Kwame Brown to take the backup center spot for Detroit last season. I've got no real hopes for him being an impact player for the Celtics.
