As much as Celtics fans hate the idea, I think the Celtics would do this without a ton of hesitation, so long as Bosh promised to re-sign.

I don't see the incentive for Toronto, though.  They're too far away from being contenders to have KG be worth it to them.
I don't think we win a title with Bosh though, I think we have a chance to with KG, if he's healthy.

Defensively Bosh has been better so far this season, but in the past years that aspect of his game has been well below what KG provides.

But you're right, the upside of having a young player of Bosh's caliber would mean that DA would do the move in a heartbeat.

If we probably don't win the title this year without KG, what is the point of the trade? To be very good for the next six or seven years? Sorry, but being "good" or a "contender" kind of sucks without a genuine chance to win it all. We have IMO at least a 50/50 chance of one or two more titles with KG. Opportunities to win it all are rare(see 1987-2008), so I wouldn't break up the current team. Hell, if it were up to me Posey and Leon would still be here- probably a good thing I'm not a GM:)
Maybe if I watched more games I'd be more impressed with Bosh, but isn't he sort of Jermaine O'Nealish? Just very very good, but not really able to carry a team? Most likely I'm way underrating him.

Holy crap, no!

Garnett= shot at championship

Bosh=  rebuilding

That's your first Tommy Point.

Chris Bosh is hands down the most over-rated player in the league.

I don't know about that.  He's fourth in both points and rebounds per game, the only guy in both categories.  29 and 12 is pretty darn impressive, especially alongside 52% shooting.

Bosh isn't great defensively, but I think if you put him within a defensive framework (rather than next to Bargnani, Calderon, and Bellinelli), he'd be pretty decent.  He bulked up a bit to better defend post players.

I suppose that another reason why some would consider this trade is that KG is still a hot commodity..right now..this season.

Great Trades are made while the iron is hot.

In two years KG would be 35. I really don't see him playing for another team. He may just pack it up and retire here in Boston.

Still, though...striking while the iron is hot won't bring us Banner 18 or 19, even with Bosh.

Bosh has out of this world number for points and rebounds right now, but how many blocks? Steals? Does he intimidate anyone? Would he ever? Would he talk to teammates on Defense? Would he be able to get the ball to Perk down low? Ever? Low post threat if/when we needed it?

Doc, Thom Thibedeaux, Clifford Ray could (Maybe?) teach him, though.

KG's importance to Celtics is incredible. IMO I cannot think of Anyone in NBA right now that we could trade for him that would guarantee Boston a ring this year. Anyone.

And the Raptors are 3 and 4. Bosh has Great Numbers, but his team is losing.

Sorry, but the offense Bosh brings is no match for what Garnett brings on defense (and the trickle down effect that has on everyone else).

Shaq once called Chris Bosh the Ru Paul of the NBA.

TP. And the Big Aristotle gave our Beloved Captain Pierce his nickname. The big Fella most know something.

Well Garnett, Pierce, and Allen had great numbers on losing teams whats your point? I think Bosh is beating Garnett in just about every statistical category right now. I know Garnett means a lot to this team right now but you are making it seem like the only way any team is going to win the championship this year is if Garnett is on that team.

He also said Kobe couldn't win without him, Kobe did. He also said SVG was the master of panic and would panic in the playoffs last year. SVG didn't and made it to the finals. Shaq just likes to hear himself talk

Kobe won because the Lakers received a Christmas Present in Gasol - the Lakers received, but did not give up anything for him, lol.

And Shaqtus matched up Almost evenly with Dwight last year. Gasol would have had his hands full against Shaq. Gasol pretty much outplayed Dwight in the Finals, but wouldn't have done that to Shaq. Or Perk. Or KG....

Look at what we did last year after KG was out. Isn't a depth chart of Bosh/Wallace/Baby with a little Marquis waaaay better than starting Baby? Bosh would be an astronomical upgrade over Baby at both ends of the floor (better speed, better length, way better defensive rebounding, an important part of defense). And the trade is a homerun in the long run. I think you'd have to do it because it's a major plus long term, and I'm not convinced it would hurt our chances this year over what KG is able to provide.

Well I was talking about Shaq's freestyle when he called out Kobe after losing to us in the finals. So the Lakers had Gasol before Shaq made those comments. I'm also not talking about Shaq's playing but his talking.  Also if Gasol outplayed Dwight, the defensive player of the year, than I'm sure he wouldn't have had much trouble against shaq.

Yeah, now that he is on a "contending" team in the east I'm sure he will annoy me more than before. But as long as we are winning he can say whatever he wants  ;D

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
ok...maybe we ought to lay this out a little with some numbers.

Garnett, at 24 yrs old:
22ppg 11.4 rpg 5.0 apg 1.79 bpg

Bosh, last season @ 24 yrs old:
22.7ppg 10.0rpg 2.5 apg 1.0 bpg

Garnett's total wins, first six seasons 223
Bosh's wins to date (6 seasons) 214

They're not the same players but Bosh is no bargain basement knock off. I wouldn't trade Garnett because I'm a fan, because I love the team, and I love what Garnett brings to it. An objective person would do this trade in a new york minute.

This is how I feel. I love KG and everything that he brings so much. If I am even contemplating doing this trade than it probably means that it would be an obvious decision since I am already completely biased on KG's behalf.
