No way! What happens today? First a thread around Perk and now KG?? Blasphemy!! >:(

Ok, ok...kidding a little but no way I would deal KG for anybody in the league. KG returned us to the path for glory and he's still an awesome player.

And if it bypassed the decade of irrelevance and rebuilding that we went through post-Bird, you still wouldn't do it?

The additional posts here show me why this trade would even be considered, but Bosh doesn't bring Boston a Championship this year if this trade happened this year. Bosh doesn't bring a Championship to Boston next year, either.

For a future Boston team, yes a core of Bosh, Perk and Rondo sounds tough and would keep Boston in playoffs and competitive.

But right now, Bosh alone doesn't bring Banner 18 to Boston.

Post from Roy Hobbs makes sense for Future of Celtics. The sad reality is that within next couple of years Danny Ainge will have to do something big to preserve the Celtics future.

My question is: When does the Future begin for the Celtics? Next year?

And Garnett's influence rubbed off on the Celtics, not the other way around. He won Defensive Player of the Year by bringing a mindset to Boston. Trade him for Bosh this year and that mindset leaves with him. That mindset would not come with Bosh coming here, IMO.

Garnett is the Celtics modern-day Bill Russell, IMO.

I believe players can get better, though. Bosh would improve defensively for Boston, but I would not see him as becoming an emotional leader and raising the defensive intensity of the team. But again I could be wrong, this is just how I see it right now.

Do this trade now, and yes the future of Celtics is improved, but no way Banner 18 or 19 comes next few year.

Another good point...I believe that Boston went through that dark period because of the unfortunate deaths of Len Bias and Reggie Lewis, though.

What happened to Boston with those two has not happened to another NBA team. If Bias lived, the Celtics would have definitely competed into the 90's.

The catch is that we may not have drafted Lewis or needed to.

Which brings us to whether we would have even drafted Paul Pierce....

Even if I was a die-hard Laker fan (I'm not) I wouldn't wish the Bias-Lewis tragedies on anyone. Those events set Boston back 20 yrs.

I feel that with DA at the helm, he will make the smart moves at the appropriate time to keep Boston competitive.

I just could not even sniff anywhere near this until I was absolutely positively sure that the championship window had closed with KG.

You would almost have to if offered (along with the Bosh extension)

Last year Celtics with Bosh, Wallace and Daniels are at least in the Finals if not the champ.

Bosh would not have to be the go to post defender.  Perk is (as well as Wallace)

Little to no chance this trades happens from Toronto's side.

IMHO this is not so far fetched.  What do the Raptors do if Bosh makes it clear he's leaving for free agency?

I feel like he's already made that pretty clear which is why I don't think it is so far fetched. I'm not sure why people think we definitely wouldn't win a championship with Bosh instead of KG. I'm not saying we will but you don't really know with either player at this point. What I do know is that Bosh can easily play 35 plus minutes the entire season and we don't have to worry about his age or his injured knee. We probably have the best bench in the league right now and I think if we had Bosh we'd probably still have the best starting line up or close to it. The defense might drop a little but it's not like we would completely lose our philosophy just cause KG walked out the door. We'd still have some competitors and pretty solid defense players all around including rondo, perk, pierce, sheed, daniels and not to mention Thibedeou.I also think that the transition from KG to Bosh wouldn't be that difficult as they are both similar on the offensive end being finesse mid range  players

The post Bird era wasn't managed by Danny Ainge. Plus we were really unlucky with the deaths of Lewis and Bias.

This is a good point. We can debate, right now, whether current KG is more valuable than current Bosh. It's a debate. But very soon, it won't be close. Additionally, we did not have KG, Wallace or Daniels last year and went to 7 games against the eventual championship loser. Sub in Bosh for Baby, and suddenly Rashard isn't killing us. Give extra sub minutes to Wallace and a demoted Baby instead of Scal; give Daniels spot minutes instead of Marbury/who know who, and we have a very good chance of winning the title.

The only thing is that Veterans are very very moody and proud. Not sure if Pierce and Allen would fully buy into this, so we may be locked in to our current group no matter what. But, if offered, you'd have to consider it.

And it's not an impossible situation. Such a trade would guarantee Toronto a defensive presence for a few more years, and there's no guarantee free agents will want to go there.

Well, it would sell some tickets for a few years while the Raptors retooled.

Sorry, but the offense Bosh brings is no match for what Garnett brings on defense (and the trickle down effect that has on everyone else).

Oh man I love KG but I almost think you have to do this.   I don't think Bosh is that bad defensively and playing next to Perk, having Rondo at the point of attack, and being coached by Tom Thibodeau I think his defense could improve significantly and our chances of being a title contender this year could possibly remain the same.  If you just look at the numbers 29 and 11.6 for Bosh and 12.9 and 8.3 for KG it's almost no brainer.   I don't want to put this thought in my head though as I love KG on this team ;)

No one is saying Bosh is as good as KG.  He isn't.  But he's 9-10 years younger. In 2-3 years, KG will be a part-time player while Bosh will be an all-star.

Could the Celtics win with Bosh instead of KG?  I don't know, but they would certainly be in contention.

Not even close.

I agree that Garnett gives us the best chance this year, but Bosh gives us a still pretty good chance and a team that will continue to win after Ray and Paul retire.
