Even when Boston's physical play went too far -- like when Davis was ejected for a flagrant foul on Anderson Varejao early in the third quarter -- it worked out OK. Davis' ouster proved to be a blessing in disguise, as Powe came in and raised Boston's interior domination to another level. Truth be told, Powe has been the more effective player all season, and it's been something of a mystery that Davis, not Powe, has been the one to see more court time in Garnett's absence

Sorry, i fail at links if it doesnt work.

But i find it shocking and couldnt disagree more.  I love both guys, and having them both gives us options.  But i really think Davis has seperated himself as the player who has improved and is really playing better.

His defense is better.  His jumper is getting more consistant.  I can see him gaining confidence and in a year, his jumper will be money.  The great thing is he's not afraid of taking it now.  He has obviously toned up and trimmed down.

Am i in the minority here? Or is hollinger just making bad assumptions?

Thanks for the link to the article.  This will quickly become a Powe vs. Davis thread, which has been hashed and rehashed time and time again.  My feeling is that both have improved over time, and I am happy both play for the Cs.  I think both are good backups in this league, but neither are starters.  With KG out, I like Davis starting, because he can sometimes get going with his mid-range jumper, while Perk stays underneath.
Celtics fan for life.

In Scal's absence, I absolutely think Leon Powe should be starting at power forward. I think the team would have been better off during this stretch if that had of happened.

To prevent it we can all just say that both have been playing at a superb level the last few games which is the truth.
True Celtic = Leon Powe

Bring back the show!!!!

Basically, I think that's Davis' midrange shot is why he starts right now.

Baby has really improved and has become a pretty intelligent player.  Leon lacks Baby's IQ but as long as he's catching near the rim and doesn't have to think, he is a beast.

I agree.  Not that anyone can replace KG.  But Davis's game better suits KG's, giving perk room to operate and spaces the floor better for pierce and allen.

When powe comes in, he adds scoring to the bench unit.  Just felt like hollinger was making a rash conclusion and jumping aboard the bandwagon.

Mystery.  I agree.

I don't think its a shocking article, Hollinger has supported Powe for a while now.  I agree that Powe should start over BBD, and its shocking that BBD gets the opportunities he does.

It appears that, as of the 2nd, BBD and the starters was one of our worst 5-man units.

The starting lineup should remain the same. BBD opens up the offense for Rondo to facilitate, instead of having Perk & Leon camping inside. I like that Doc didn't yank leon early second Q, and they just kept on feeding him.

Once KG returns healthy, O my our bench is going to be a beast.

Also Powe, while not a good shot blocker, is a better shot blocker than Davis. I think Doc prefers to have Powe be our post player on offense. So he doesn't play him with Perk if he has a choice. Both players should see plenty of minutes.

Exactly, that and Davis is the better defender.  Davis was playing pretty good ball last night as well.  He did have 10 pts in the 16 minutes that he played and did a better job on the defensive side in his minutes then Powe did.
do it

Powe played great defense. He did end up fouling Big Z twice in the post but he didn't allow him to make the shot for the opportunity for the three point play.

Both players were awesome last night.

Perk and Leon play well together.  Rondo loves to drive and dish to leon for the finish.  Leon has great chemistry with all the starters and the spacing is great when he plays with perk or KG

Powe played great on D, especially liked how he was helping when Lebron made his drives to the paint.
