Well I am not going to participate in this discussion
specially because there have been a lot of trades that doesnt appeal good to
the ones that are not in them, in EVERY single fantrasy draft I participate.

Im just saying yes to a proposal. Usually in this kind of things one or two deals just
appears to be unfair to the rest ( like the Brand trade) but finally its my right of god to give my next year first rounder who could be fro OJMayo to Gerald Green .

So please

In every other league that I have been in there are always questionable trades.

The difference is that in those leagues the managers can vote down the trade or the commissioner can veto the trade.

Since a veto method was not decided b4 the draft, this has become a problem.

If the rest league doesn't care that Blake is dumping valuable picks to another team or if the Commish decides it's ok then we can move on.

And if u didn't like some of the earlier trade then u should have spoken up.

If there is protest/trash talking b/c of a trade then the Commish can setup a new thread with a poll, "Veto the whatever trade" Yes", "No".

Since ur trade with Blake involves a 6th rounder or later then the managers could have until the end of the 5th round to vote.

10 votes is a veto.

Easy.

Once we are inside the Yahoo system, it will be much easier b/c it's all there for free.

I dont think you need to drop out of the league.  I agree these decisions should have been made earlier but i dont think there is any reason to drop out.  I dont think MK is attacking you, just the system that is in place.  I think this discussion should be put on hold until CD5 gets on, since he is commissioner, whatever is said and decided is said and decided.  clearly there is a difference of opinions here, so discussing it further isnt going to resolve it.  lets just wait till we get a decision from cd5 before losing another member.

1) There hasn't been a veto option previously in the draft; and
2) The Commissioner himself okayed trading next year's pick, and talked about how valuable a commodity it could be.

I think a lot of people are giving Edgar a hard time because they weren't approached with  the trade offer.  I've got no vested interest in this draft, but I do like to see rules fairly applied.

Not that this kind of desition from the commisioner helps that much.
Sometimes the first ten pages of a draft have to be about the rules.
this one start without having the rules seted
To make a desition at this point is unfair and arbitrary
I will leave the desition to all but Its incredibly stupid to say ANY desition It doesnt matter wich side it is will be fair
At best it will be servicable
Again im pretty sick of this, And its really really really (INSERT WORD HERE) I cant because im a mod, aand i have to ban myself if i use the word, that U CD5 say that when I am even MORE active than u in this ( INSERT THE OTHER ONE HERE).

Edgar I have been commited to running this thing and been active. If you don't think people leaving in the middle of the league before the draft is even over is an unfortunate move then I don't know what to tell you.

I get enough swear drama in my life.  i dont need it in a fantasy basketball league.  can we just be through with this and get on.  there is no point to repeatedly having people drop out of the league.  there is no point to people not having fun. 

lets just agree on something and get on with it.



Can the commissioner just make a definitive statement about a) how the picks will be awarded to lottery teams and b)if there is a veto process or not.

I never said you weren't more active edgar. But if you drop out you sure as hell are not more committed.

And most of the rules have been set. Only 2 have not. The veto rules (which I say everyone on the league should be able to vote for or against in order not to give me the commish as much power (most leagues have commish vetos). And the draft system, which either will reward the team with the worst record or do a draft lotto like the NBA (not a huge difference since the worst record is still guarenteed a top 4 pick if we go lotto). Neither of them are major, and the major rules have already been set.

how about for the veto procedure-  in order to get a league wide vote, 3 players must publically declare that they think the trade is so unfair as to warrant a veto vote.  if you get that, you must get 11 (thus more then half) of the league to pm CD5 (being the commish) that they think it is unfair.  this way you still have anonymity in protesting, although the 3 who really feel it is unfair must be public about it.

If we are going to have a veto system, something like that seems fair.



as for draft picks for next year, i know there are those two decisions, but that must be determined soon, especially if people are going to be trading picks.  it would be nice to just have a decision, i dont really care what it is.  that actually goes for both issues.  there needs to be a decision and then we need to just move on

My two cents:

1. Re the trade that seems to have kicked this whole thing off: I have no huge problems with the deal. Yes, I think Edgar gets the better of the deal here, and more power to him: he accepted an offer that was presented to him. I probably would have done the same.

2. Trading draft picks: we should have decided from the very beginning how these work and how the lottery would be set up. Personally, I would have voted not to allow the trading of future draft picks. Again, I move that all non-playoff teams have a shot at the #1 pick only, and after that, picks are awarded to teams based on record, with the worst team receiving the next best pick.

3. Veto rules: sole veto power should not lay with the commissioner. Also, I don't believe that a veto should require a unanimous decision on the part of the other members of the league. Considering that we have 20 teams, and 2 of them would be involved with the trade, I think 8 veto votes should be enough to overturn a trade. A veto should only be used on rare occasions.

Lastly, I really hope everyone stays in the league.
