Heh so much for sitting Maye the rest of the year with this disastrous OL.

He's about to start against the Texans

I have a feeling that Robert made a call to Jerod after reading the Boston scribes and talk radio all pushing for Maye to start. Let's hope it works out, but of course none of them have to bear the consequences if it doesn't - they just get to write about how it failed  :police:

Mayo hasn?t said anything about Maye starting against the Texans.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

If you go by the Kraft playbook, this Peppers fiasco is some seriously damaging stuff and negative press for the Pats.  Kraft is as thin-skinned as you can get about PR and perception. One way to get the Peppers stuff to the backburner quickly would be to plug your shiny new toy in at starting QB this week.

It hasn't been explicitly said, but reading the tea leaves, I think we're getting closer & closer to a QB switch.

And there it is. I'm sure its totally a coincidence it comes a day after the Peppers arrest.

The future is now in New England: Sources say the #Patriots are planning to start Drake Maye against the #Texans, the first start for the No. 3 overall pick.

Jacoby Brissett, who started the first five games, heads to the bench.

Assuming this is accurate (Rapoport is a pretty reliable source), I feel like it is too soon.  I honestly don't know how ready Maye is for this, haven't seem him play since the preseason, but 5 weeks of practice on top of where he was in the preseason does not seem like enough.  But who knows.  Sounds like we will find out soon enough.

You?d think this news would come from the coach. Very odd.

Oh boy. Maye is gonna get slaughtered. Perhaps literally.

I think its becoming more apparent that he's not the one running the show these days.

He was never running the show, it was always the Krafts. You?d think they?d at least let him reveal the QB change to keep the charade going, though. Lol

I can see this going a couple different ways:

1. Drake's season ends with him rolling on the ground, screaming, grabbing at his lower body

2. Drake being dragged, glassy-eyed, into the concussion tent after a lengthy stay motionless on the turf.

There's a reason Brissett is having the worst statistical year of his career.

No, no, no. Drake Maye is going to come in and save the day.

Just lower your expectations folks, he is not the next coming of Tom Brady.

At least not this year and until the Pats have a solid OL. Tho I am excited about the future with him starting now.

For whatever this is worth....

Taylor Kyles
@tkyles39
Drake Maye's average time to throw this preseason (2.79 seconds) was the same as his final season at UNC. That would be the 17th-fastest in the NFL between Patrick Mahomes (2.78) and Daniel Jones (2.80)

Jacoby Brissett's 2.92-second average time to throw is 10th-slowest

Not worth much.  Pretty useless stat.

Well, Drake is going to need to get that down to about 1.92 seconds or less to survive.
