There's a part of me that wants to see Belichick get hired somewhere (Philly, Jacksonville, Buffalo, etc.?) and have success there. Then Kraft will look like an even bigger fool.

And I say this as someone who felt BB was a terrible GM and it was the right decision to part ways, but I'm also starting to think Kraft may have hamstrung Belichick in terms of financial resources. Kraft doesn't even seem bothered by these poor seasons, just going through the motions.

@PhilAPerry
Drake Maye moving well, and not wearing any visible brace, at today?s Patriots practice.

He was a full participant on Wednesday but listed on the injury report with a knee issue.

Do you have a source besides Ben Volin confirming that?

Robert K Kraft on a recent talk show said Brady went over to his house and cried that he's going to leave the Patriots because he believes Brady and Belichick didn't get along and that influenced his decision to leave?

Wait I thought RKK could've just paid Brady? Lol sounds like Kraft is crying wolf right at this point

Kraft is proving to be a fraud IMO.

I don't deny Belichick's involvement in Brady leaving either, but come on, YOU'RE THE OWNER! He definitely didn't want to give Brady the multi-year deal he was seeking (around 2 years, 30-35M AAV) which Tampa gave him. Brady took discounts all those years and Kraft benefitted from it.

And btw, we've had major needs at numerous positions over the last 4-5 years and yet we never address them (notably offensive line and #1 WR). We still have 50M in cap space this year while fielding a high school offensive line. What is that being saved on, the Gillette Stadium construction???

2021 was a bit of an outlier where they spent a ton in FA, but that is like the only time, otherwise they never spend big in FA. Didn't the last two offseasons either.

I'm not going to be that guy that says Kraft is a "bad owner" and "did nothing right", but tbh I think he's being exposed all these years post-Brady now. I'm becoming more convinced that Belichick, while not a good GM might not have had the monetary resources to get things done. And then you had that recent documentary where the Krafts painted Belichick as a "villain". A hit piece. Pathetic.

The Patriot Way in action...apparently behind the scenes it was a shambles

This is all I needed to know about Kraft:

Someone could set up something and say something, it?s just not true. I?ve personally had that happen with me. I have a saying I used with all my key people. Important decisions in life, you measure nine times and you cut once. And I think in this case, if what?s been reported is true, he?s gone, but we want to get the facts.?

Pretending that he was a victim of a setup in his happy ending massage -- and then implying he'd be open to a similar type of outcome for Peppers -- shows a disgusting lack of accountability.

I don't want to put words in someone's mouth (especially not someone dead), but I can't help but think that Myra would be really disappointed with that statement. She was the entire moral compass for the organization.

He's a POS.  There were rumors that he was out screwing around when Myra was on her last days.

Also, back to the Maye MRI report,  Volin is the only one tweeting that story.  No one else in the media has been reporting it.  I wouldn't be shock if this was another Volin fabrication.  You figure Schefter, Rappaport, Russini, etc.... would have said something about it by now.

Do you really trust the team at this point? They reek of desperation and stupidity. I wouldn't put it past them to minimize bad press about them potentially jeopardizing Drake's future.

I don't think there's any chance that the front office is competent enough to prevent all leaks to NFL insiders while also being incompetent enough for the info to have been leaked to Volin.

I do, however, think Volin releases reports without doing due diligence on his sources, resulting in him reporting things that someone randomly made up

It felt like common sense to me that the defense would see a drop off this season. How can you lose the greatest defensive coach in the history of the game, and not have a set back? Belichick dealt with injuries to his defense, and I don't ever recall his defenses suffering too much because of it.

Maybe it hasn't been the offense that has been the main problem. The defense is awful. As I mentioned before, there is a big difference between playing the game and being able to coach it. Mayo needs to learn how to coach, and unfortunately, Patriots fans have to be patient with this whole process.

If I'm being positive, this was another good loss for draft positioning. Drake Maye looks like he will be the real deal.

The offense is still the main problem and when it becomes a recurring problem then the defense loses motivation and just stops putting in effort. Also I think we're down a few men on defense so the drop off is real. But yes coaching is also an issue too.

Drake Maye is the guy

That said, I'm not sure Van Pelt or Elliott Wolf are going forward. The playcalling is horrible and the roster construction is even worse. I'm willing to give Mayo a slight pass even though the defense sucks because of the injuries (Barmore, Bentley, Judon traded), but also... the roster is just putrid.

Mayo deserves some blame but idk what coach could realistically do that much better. Every week it seems like the O-Line has new members/scrubs and also, we just don't have any elite playmakers. JAX is a bad team but you see them having a few of those guys especially BTJ

Overall I'm curious to see how the team reacts, because it's a long flight home and this somehow feels like "even below rock bottom". The Dolphins game felt that way and now there was this one.

Frankly 1-16 may truly be on the table. If you can't beat this team or the Dolphins without Tua then idk what "winnable" game remains. They may pull off a few wins with Maye balling out but that's it.

Still too early to tell on Maye, IMO. He has all the physical tools and has made some impressive throws, but it will come down to his decision making and ability to read the field. Seems like AVP is keeping the play calling pretty straightforward and Drake isn?t going through many progressions. We also don?t know how he?s going to perform under pressure in a close game.

I agree about AVP and Wolf, but place much more blame on Mayo. The way he's running the team is embarrassing. From an optics perspective, his tendency to say every thought he has to the media is very off-putting. It feels like he's intentionally trying to be the anti-Bill. But as we're seeing, this tactic sets a precedent for the players who are gladly taking the team's dysfunction public (see: Polk and Osborn just today).

He also seemingly isn't coaching during the games, and has yet to make a game management decision that could be seen as "good." Meanwhile, he's made a few clear errors (with the Seattle punt in OT the most obvious example). We are an undisciplined football team both on the field and off. We have no clear identity. That's not entirely Mayo's fault, but he definitely deserves a lion's share of the blame IMO.

I admire your willingness to give him a pass, but I don't think he deserves it. Just doesn't seem to be a good head coach or leader at this stage.

My preferred outcome for the rest of the season is for us to lose every single game and finish 1-16. Surely we would end up with the No.1 pick in the draft if we manage that, which is very, very possible. Even if we don't use it and trade down since the reality is we suck, we need help everywhere. We need O-line upgrades, both at tackle, at WR, tight end, defensively we need an edge rusher and in the secondary (especially if Jabrill is gone which he probably will be). Any wins this year will just be feel-good wins that won't have any practical benefit and may weaken our draft position. Rebuilds suck but this is the reality of our situation.

The other thing about getting hammered the remaining games is that it is a great catalyst for change. That way there's impetus to get rid of Wolf, Mayo, Van Pelt and the other clowns running this circus. Shame we can't get rid of Robert too, he's got command responsibility for how terrible we've been the last five years.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D
