This Patriots vs Dolphins game may be the single worst game of football I've seen played.

It should make people appreciate Tua more.  At least he moves the ball.

All I'm gonna say is, it's been bad over the past week but if the Pats lose this week at home to the wretched Dolphins, then look out. It's all going to get 100x worse if that's the case.

If they have another poor start too I can see Gillette booing loudly, although I'm also curious to see how the crowd is. I would think with it being just Week 5 and early October it should be a sellout, but then again are people already sick of being 1-3 AND continuing to start Brissett?

The excuse will be "gotta protect Maye so he can't play this year." Sigh

I do hope they drop the home game to the Dolphins and the crowd boos, making Robert Kraft and Wolf look silly. Lack of o-line lol

I don't see any upside to putting Maye into this dumpster fire. Just saying "but Caleb and Jaylen D are lighting it up on bad teams", well I think I can say with a pretty high degree of confidence we are the worst team in the NFL this season. You could put Brady back in to this team and he wouldn't move the needle. At most he adds a couple more wins which makes our draft position worse. I'm not sure what starting Maye is going to do, he's not going to magically fix this team's myriad of issues. There's way more downside risk than upside risk with starting him.

What is the actual benefit to starting him, other than not having to see Brissett get hammered and make mistakes? There's a legitimate argument to saying "well let's see what the kid's got, throw him in the deep end and see if he sinks or swims, may as well see what we got". If he swims, we win a couple more games maybe and we feel a little bit better about the team. But if he sinks, and even worse if it's not because of him but because of the people around him, what then? Back to square one? I'm pretty sure Maye is a strong person mentally, and I'm sure he will be better than Jacoby, but is this really the environment we want him to be starting in, with a historically bad O-line and terrible receivers? How well will we, the average fan, be able to judge him when he has 1 second to get rid of the ball because his O-line is collapsing around him and his receivers can't get separation?

I've reconciled myself to this team not winning any more games this season. This is basically a super extended audition for next season for the rest of these no hopers  :police:

We're about a Zeke Mowatt situation away from a full blown early 90s Pats revivial.

That was a great loss yesterday for two reasons. Improves draft position, especially against a team you could be in competition with for a top 5 pick. Most importantly, Kraft and Wolfe need to be embarrassed for the product they put on the field. They need to see and hear the disappointment from the fans in the stadium.

What exactly is the plan for Maye? In Green Bay, Jordan Love and Aaron Rodgers sat and watched Hall of Fame quarterbacks play in front of them. I like Brissett, but what is Maye learning from him? The fact of the matter is Brissett is essentially a journeyman quarterback that is leading an archaic offense. The offense is so bad that it's unwatchable.

Believe me, I am not putting the offensive struggles solely on Brissett. This is where Kraft and Wolfe also come into play. Did their plan include assembling this awful offensive line. I also find it embarrassing that the team didn't cut any of the players they just drafted. A draft btw that was laughably executed. And can we finally blame Kraft for being too cheap to hire quality coaches. If I'm not mistaken, Alex Van Pelt is being paid by Cleveland.

I agree with a lot of this but I look at it a little differently.  It isn't about how good or bad the vet is, it is about how ready the rookie is.  Mahomes watched Alex Smith for a year.  I am sure Alex Smith was better than Brissett has been this season, but the surrounding team was better too.  I thought Brissett was going to be better than he has been, it isn't all on him, as you said, but he could be better.

But if Maye isn't "ready" it isn't going to help to put him in no matter how well or not Brissett is playing.  It is hard for us as fans to assess how ready Maye is as we don't get to see practice.  Some QBs come out of college more ready than others.  Maye was on the less ready end of the spectrum.  Everyone knew that.  He has a great arm and is a great athlete, all the tools, he is just not that well developed at this time.

I reserve the right to change my mind at any moment but right now, I say play Brissett for as long as he holds up and put Maye in for some games at the end of the season.  Maybe 2 games, maybe 4 games, I don't know, just enough so that he can be evaluated.

Somehow the Revs attendance has been going up even though they had a horrible year too. However, I think that would be an embarrassment. If Revolution starts getting closer towards Patriots crowds.

Man.  Tough times.  The off field stuff can really sink an already sinking ship in an even more horrible way.  The untimely penalties and mishaps were just crazy making.

I will say, I have an incredible amount for Brissett for what he is enduring out there.  Guy is tough as nails.

What's funny is that the Pats would have been a game out of first idf they didn't lose a game that was super duper winnable.

Yeah, so far the AFC East isn't impressive. Tua being out has something to do with that, but the Bills haven't looked great, and the Rodgers Jets are still ... the Jets, lol.

If the details to the Peppers are true, Pats need to cut ties with him immediately.  This is Ray Rice level stuff here.

My mind went to Jabari Bird, but I've only heard the basics.

Hate to say, but this organization has become a disaster. Not just the on-field stuff, but even the off-field stuff (ex. Peppers incident) and how even the players seem to not really care. In the past Belichick would have run a tighter ship and controlled the room mostly. Mayo hasn't been able to do that and the on-field talent is already bad enough to justify it. Then you have a game like yesterday with all the penalties including some terrible, obvious ones committed. It's sadly becoming a loser franchise.

Hopefully Maye can save us and be the guy, but there's still a lot left to be desired with this roster construction and playcalling on offense (Elliott Wolf + AVP)

I'm also annoyed they decide to let Maye start against a loaded Texans team and defense, but were like "nah we don't want to ease him in against a bad Dolphins team". Because surely Brissett was the better option for that and did a lot  ::) ::) ::)

Well, Bill was the coach during the Aaron Hernandez incident.  :police:

I don?t think the coaching staff have plans for Maye to start anytime soon, but I hope they at least let him play during garbage time again so he can get a feel for the speed of NFL games. The fact that they didn?t let him play at all in the second half vs the Niners is telling, IMO.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I have a feeling that Robert made a call to Jerod after reading the Boston scribes and talk radio all pushing for Maye to start. Let's hope it works out, but of course none of them have to bear the consequences if it doesn't - they just get to write about how it failed  :police:
