You would wonder given how bad Memphis is at SF are they better off starting Smart at SF and signing a PG to replace him. Maybe bring back Tyus Jones. Maybe take a chance on Tyty Washington.

Morant/Bane/Smart/JJJ/Edey does not have enough spacing unless a few of them have career years from outside.  Bane can't be your only respectable shooter. 

They need somebody who is actually a threat when shooting the basketball.  And I don't see that solution on their roster currently.  Tyus would probably help but TyTy wouldnt't.

Agreed. It is not ideal.

Nor are any of the other guys. Konchar is a bad offensive player. Z Williams is a terrible offensive player. LaRavia is poor. Smart is the most skilled offensive player in terms of outside shooting, ball-handling and pasing of the group.

This shows just how weak their supporting cast is. How little talent is there. How badly they fit around their star talent. How dysfunctional this team is.

Which is a shame because I do like their Big Three of Morant, Bane and JJJ.

Edit: I forgot GG Jackson on the Grizzlies depth chart. He might be best bet to start. Still inconsistent and undependable but that is how weak the Grizzlies SF rotation is.

They are now 12 deep. This is the first time the Pistons have had depth in years. That cost them a negative 10 wins a season these last few years. Now they not only have a quality rotation but depth beyond it to handle some injuries.

Paul Reed was a nice pickup for them.

Gary Trent Jr. is a strong candidate to potentially take a one-year deal in order to rebuild his market value for 2025. The Raptors are officially moving on, so Trent could become a key rotation piece on a contending team. Trent shot 43.1% on catch-and-shoot threes this season.

Denver & Milwaukee should be offering him a starting job to build up his value for next off-season. He'd be a good upgrade for them.

No idea who he is. Apparently he played 22gms for them last season. Oh, that was his 3rd year. Two with Atlanta and one with OKC. 81gms played across 3 seasons. 1400 minutes. A Czech SG.

Just to wade into the Smart/Memphis discussion, I feel like if Memphis can get another solid shooter/playmaker (Tyus back), then they could kinda copycat us, and play Smart from the dunker spot, or post him against smaller guards. He really need to learn to ONLY take emergency threes. He took 5 or more threes in 15 of his 20 games last year.

Smart had 6.7 3-point attempts a game at 31%.  This was both the worst % and the most attempts per game in his career.  Since his peak 3-point average of 36% 5 years ago he?s been steadily worse. He?s at 32% for his career at three, with about 5 attempts per game.  Has there ever been a worse shooter at that number of attempts?  Westbrook, for example, IS a worse 3-point shooter (30%) but has fewer attempts (3.6) for his career.

I am disappointed. I wanted to see Jared McCain and Eric Gordon as their backup backcourt. McCain looks a player.

2nd year is non-guaranteed so probably trade bait.

With tax penalties included, the Suns are projected to pay $428 million for their roster next season. Phoenix will be paying the most of any team as championship-or-bust expectations rise.

$428 million is a hella lot of money for a non-contender.
