I am shocked Saric got more than the minimum.

I don't understand that for DEN. They needed a SG or another wing more than they needed Saric. They already had A Gordon who could play backup center behind Jokic and do it better than Saric can. That has worked well for them. They also have that old rookie they drafted in the first round. The idea with him was that he has less upside but is more ready to contribute now and as a small-ball backup center.

Who were they even bidding against? Who was giving Saric more than the minimum?

So Denver now have Jokic as their starting center. They have Saric as their main backup center. They have Daron Holmes II as their rookie first round draft pick who is supposed to be a contributor next year as a small ball backup center. Then they have Zeke Nnaji who they are paying $8mil a year to be a backup center who is nothing more than a minimum contract level talent. And then they have DeAndre Jordan as their 1, 2, 3, 4, 5th center.

5 centers!

They have no starting SG. Only two backup wings (C Braun, P Watson). No backup PGs. The team is a mess. Oh, and Julian Strawther. I forgot him. Three backup wings.

5 centers. Who the heck needs 5 centers especially when your main center is Jokic who is going to soak up 75% of the minutes by himself and that will go up to 80+% in the playoffs. What a waste of resources.

That 2031 1st round pick swap is an interesting piece for Chicago.

The Sacramento Kings get one of the best players they could realistically acquire in DeMar DeRozan. Maybe not the cleanest fit, but at least they didn't have to give up a first-round pick to get him. They are now hard capped to the $178.1 million first apron.

Harrison Barnes has a 10 percent trade bonus worth $3.7 million. It raises his cap hits through 2025-26 each by $1.85 million. His $18 million salary for 2024-25 will be adjusted to $19.85 million.

Yossi also said that the Spurs would have to waive Osman's bird rights / cap hold to absorb H Barnes.

If the Spurs renounce all free agents and waive or trade Bassey and Champagnie, they're left with $10.2 million for Chris Paul's salary. That's because of Barnes' trade kicker, which increases his salary to $19.85 mil as @YossiGozlan points out

Yeah, losing Harrison Barnes makes this is a sideways move. H Barnes is probably the better fit for their offense too.

That is a nice 9 man rotation. I love the addition of H Barnes here. They can now keep Keldon JOhnson as their 6th man and bench stabilizer. Or they can start both at forward if Sochan continues to struggle offensively and move Sochan into a 15-20mpg bench role.
