Since Danny Granger was a comp for Tatum when he was drafted, I found this interesting:

Quote
Danny Granger?s career earnings: $71,140,777 Jayson Tatum?s 2030 player option: $71,446,822

Wild.

Saw Tatum is going to be making over $871K PER GAME in 2029-2030.

That's insane.

Does anyone have the details of Queta's contract? I was just curious if it was essentially like Sam Hauser's or something different?

Neemias Queta's new contract with the Boston Celtics will be for three years, a league source told

.

Boston will use Queta's Non-Bird rights to give him an additional year vs the two allowable years via the Minimum Exception.

Good bet on a young, productive player. Thanks.

Three years, like what Sam signed when we did the same with him after his 2-way when it was converted, as I had predicted.  My guess is years 2 and 3 will be partially and/or non-guaranteed.

Queta is getting more starting money ($2,162,606) and years (3) than Kornet ($2,087,519, 1 year).  Hard to reconcile that.  How do they get a away with paying Kornet so little?

Because he'd be out of the league otherwise?

I kid, I kid.

But it is true that the Celtics probably value him more than any other team in the league.  And he probably loves the fit too.  More playing time, and winning, combined than with any other team.

Kornet is reducing a 1-year minimum contract so his salary is subsidized by the league.  He is actually being paid $2.8 million, but the Celtics are only responsible for the number you quoted, and that is his cap hit.  Since Queta is signed for multiple years, there is no subsidy from the league.  If he had signed a 1-year deal, he would count the same as Kornet against the cap/tax, while making $2.16 million.

Kornet is an older big that has had some injury problems. He's a good player that has been a great fit for our system. I think he realizes he would be out of the league had Brad not believed in him and the coaching staff not helped him find his comfort in our system.

Queta is signed for longer on the chance that he can develop into a more impactful player than even Kornet was, in which case we have him on a team-friendly contract.

Queta will have a higher cap hit, but  Kornet will earn more money (8 year minimum vs. 4 year minimum).

Haha.  Yep.  I momentarily forgot that the first year for Queta wasn't subsidized.

Yes, I see that now.  Kornet will get paid $2.8M, so about 30% more than Queta.  That makes more sense.  Still a good bargain for Kornet in my mind.  Both are good team friendly contracts.

Yeah, what if we traded IT for Kemba instead of Kyrie.  Even if he still gets hurt a couple of years later, do we possibly pull past the Cavs in 2018?  Do we make it past Milwaukee in 2019?
