Demonia will be 25 in Aug.  Sounds like a good candidate for a 2-way.

Almost all of our players can move up and down positionally. Jaylen can play 3 positions so can Tatum, so can Holiday, so can Tillman, Al can play 2, Sam can play 2, Pritchard can play 2, White can play 2, We have massive roster flexibility.

Agreed. I don't think you can look at it as a "second team", because our backup at a position might just be a starter shifting.  Our backup to White at SG, for instance, is probably JB or Jrue.

That said, Hauser can play backup SF, and has the size to cover opposing forwards.

I am calling it second team based on roster spots 1-5 are first team, roster spots 6-10 are second team.  People can rank differently, but there are going to be players that are going to rank 6-10.  Right now, that is Pritchard (combo guard,1-2), Hauser (wing, 2-3), Horford (big, 4-5), and Kornet (big, 5).  What is missing is a 3-4 forward who would be good enough to be the 9th or better on the roster, with Kornet 10.

I understand that many of our current players have the versatility to play more than 1 position but most every player has 1 position that is their natural position.  Tatum is often considered a 3-4 but to me, his natural position is clearly as a 3/wing/SF, whatever you want to call it.

So the ideal player, the perfect fit, that I have been trying to describe is a 3-4, a wing/swing, a natural forward, not a natural guard who can play forward.  We can cover that role with who we have if needed, I get that, but if we get the right player, it may take some load off Tatum without forcing Holiday to play as a forward or something like that (which happened some last season for certain match ups).

I really wanted Trendon Watford last off-season
He is 6-9 240 and a true 4.  More size than Brissett or Lamar Stevens. He is restricted free agent this year. Not sure how we could get him.

John Butler Jr. Is 7-0 and listed at 190 pounds last year
Was on 2-way with Wizards I believe. Would be a good 2-way candidate as he can block shots and he shoots it OK from 3.

The departures set up Joe Mazzulla to make some internal promotions for his own coaching staff for the upcoming season. The team is already adding one of Mazzulla?s former college players God Shammgod Jr. as a player development coach. Sam Cassell was a candidate for open head coaching jobs around the league and was heavily targeted as an assistant per sources. However, it appears he will be back alongside Mazzulla for next season. -via Booth Newspapers

God Shammgod Jr.

Man what a name

Amazing that God, Sr.  has a son who is an NBA coach. Seems senior was a kid just a minute ago.  And junior I think is 28.

Son of God.  And we got him.

I hope I live long enough to at least hear of God Shammgod IV.  Some names are too good to not pass down.

Also, hopefully he?s as good of a ballhandling coach as his father.
Wait, does this mean there are people who don't know the Shammgod is named after a real person?

While the entire roster is yet to get announced, according to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, Jaden Springer, Jordan Walsh, Drew Peterson, and undrafted free agent Tristan Enaruna will join Scheierman and Watson in Las Vegas, where D.J. MacLeay will take the reins from Tony Dobbins as the team's head coach at Summer League.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Even with teh trade kicker and PO, I think both of these contracts are team-friendly.

Bobby Manning @RealBobManning

Reminder that Sam Hauser becomes extension-eligible on Tuesday July 9 as the #Celtics continue their run of agreeing to extensions under Brad Stevens.

Will we see another extension this summer?

Evan Sidery @esidery

The Celtics did not extend a qualifying offer to JD Davidson making him an unrestricted free agent. Davidson averaged 21.5 points, 8.5 assists and 1.5 steals this season for Boston?s G League affiliate.

Ah, that is a bummer. I thought he was going to make it here.

This is news from like a week ago.  All the QO news you?ve been posting tonight is; they had to be offered by June 29th.

Anyway, as I said earlier in this thread Davison?s QO was required to be a 15-man spot.  He is 2-way eligible but his QO could not be for a 2-way.  He is still on the Celtics summer league, and will have a (good) chance of earning a 2-way again this season with Boston.  They have not given up on him.

thanks for that info. when i saw that news, i assumed Davison was out. i still think he can be a future player for the team, so hopefully he does get another 2-way to keep that chance alive.

Love seeing Pritchard out there going against the Olympic team.

Some Jrue in there as well. No Tatum?

Tatum missed the first couple of days due to "personal reasons".  He should be there today.

Maybe not the right thread here, but the more I look at Payton Pritchard's extension, the more I think it may be one of the best contracts in the league.

Set aside rookie contracts and set aside full max contracts for superstars. Pritchard's 4 year, 30m contract unbelievably good. If all he did was shoot 3s, that would be a good contract, but he also brings ball-handling and creation for others as a backup guard. He's not terrible at defense either.
