Baylor should obviously be able to at least take over Svi's role, but he honestly looks like he could push into that top 10-11 if he's given a chance. A smart basketball player who can make plays off the dribble or shoot from 3. He's like a combination of Pritchard and Hauser and he's an older rookie.

Baylor could comp well with Max Strus.  Perhaps Baylor is a little more of a creator, Strus is a little more athletic, but they feel similar in style.

I think Brad regrets letting Strus go (unless that was Ainge?), and hoped for Hauser to be his replacement.

Hauser is a great shooter, but he doesn't bring anything else offensively (but I did like that little runner/floater he made in Game 5 of the Finals!).  Strus has more of a complete game, and I think Baylor has shown glimpses of that at Creighton.

I am not sure that we have someone who is able to fit the second team wing/swing forward role, at least as I envision it.  Brissett is 6 ft - 7 in, but had the length to play as a forward.  Not quite a PF, more of a big wing.  Scheierman and Walsh are both 6 ft - 6 in and both listed at 205 lbs.  Maybe Walsh can play as a forward, that is kind of TBD, but it does not seem like Scheierman is going to be a forward.  He seems like more of a guard even than Hauser (who is listed at 6 ft - 7 in).  Everyone seems to be hoping he can handle the ball like Pritchard and shoot like Hauser, we shall see.

I know the line between a guard and a forward is blurred, and 1 or 2 inches in height is not what matters, it is more about skills and how the player plays on the court.  I see a slot on the roster or depth chart for another forward, a wing/swing type of forward.  I don't think Tillman is that, he is more of a big.  It is not going to be the end of the world if we don't fill this slot, but it would be nice.

I thought Brissett would be better in that role, maybe he can be with another season.  I can understand if they decide not to bring him back, even if it means leaving the slot open for a while.  Rosters around the league are filling up.  There are probably going to be some options for the Celtics to fill this forward role/slot.  If it ends up there is no one better than Brissett, maybe they just leave it open.

Almost all of our players can move up and down positionally. Jaylen can play 3 positions so can Tatum, so can Holiday, so can Tillman, Al can play 2, Sam can play 2, Pritchard can play 2, White can play 2, We have massive roster flexibility.

Agreed. I don't think you can look at it as a "second team", because our backup at a position might just be a starter shifting.  Our backup to White at SG, for instance, is probably JB or Jrue.

That said, Hauser can play backup SF, and has the size to cover opposing forwards.

Not quite as quick but I think ya?ll are discounting Tillman in the Brissett role. Very good defensively, switchable, doesn?t rebound as well but better offensively around the basket, both struggle from 3.

Also, Watson is going to surprise ppl. He?s already a young vet glue guy with really good defense. You?re gonna love him. And if his 3pt shot becomes real, he will start getting real minutes.

We don?t need Brissett. Keep the slot open for flexibility.

I am calling it second team based on roster spots 1-5 are first team, roster spots 6-10 are second team.  People can rank differently, but there are going to be players that are going to rank 6-10.  Right now, that is Pritchard (combo guard,1-2), Hauser (wing, 2-3), Horford (big, 4-5), and Kornet (big, 5).  What is missing is a 3-4 forward who would be good enough to be the 9th or better on the roster, with Kornet 10.

I understand that many of our current players have the versatility to play more than 1 position but most every player has 1 position that is their natural position.  Tatum is often considered a 3-4 but to me, his natural position is clearly as a 3/wing/SF, whatever you want to call it.

So the ideal player, the perfect fit, that I have been trying to describe is a 3-4, a wing/swing, a natural forward, not a natural guard who can play forward.  We can cover that role with who we have if needed, I get that, but if we get the right player, it may take some load off Tatum without forcing Holiday to play as a forward or something like that (which happened some last season for certain match ups).

I like Peterson but he needs to get himself an NBA body. Too weak...

The departures set up Joe Mazzulla to make some internal promotions for his own coaching staff for the upcoming season. The team is already adding one of Mazzulla?s former college players God Shammgod Jr. as a player development coach. Sam Cassell was a candidate for open head coaching jobs around the league and was heavily targeted as an assistant per sources. However, it appears he will be back alongside Mazzulla for next season. -via Booth Newspapers

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I hope I live long enough to at least hear of God Shammgod IV.  Some names are too good to not pass down.

Also, hopefully he?s as good of a ballhandling coach as his father.

Great news that Cassell is coming back.  Our coaching staff did a great job last year.

Former Allegany College of Maryland star Demarcus Demonia will join the Boston Celtics roster for the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

WCBC?s Garrett Eagan broke the news on Wednesday with a post on X.

Demonia last played for the Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions of the Austrian Basketball Superliga, the highest level of pro basketball in Austria. He averaged 19.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Demonia played two seasons at Allegany College, leading the Trojans to a 20-12 record and to the NJCAA national tournament as a sophomore.

He finished his collegiate career at Division I Texas A&M Commerce and was a three-time second-team all-conference selection.
