Tillman coming back to the Celtics at 2 years, 10 million dollars completes Brad's mission of brining everyone back, and all in one day!

Sorry mate but you got trolled

(those are parody accounts posting it)

Darn! Makes sense, I was surprised to see that

What a wild off season by Brad. So Svi, Oshae, and X are the only guys who aren?t coming back? They?re really running it back! I saw in X that Boston is in the running for Kyle Anderson. Not sure how true that is.

Tim Reynolds: Assuming all options are picked up, the Celtics now owe Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday about $910 million over the remaining time on their contracts.

Almost a billion locked up in our 5 starters ... whew, that is a lot of money.

Issue I have is players are allowed to make crazy money for things they achieve but the cap and all the cap rules work against this. I get guard rails but you can't have guys making 60 million a year (and this is going to be pretty common soon) with such a low cap.

The players are making a % of the cap though...so a supermax is 35% of the cap, plus 8% increases each year (I think). 25% of the cap is the max contract for players with less than 7 years of experience, 30% for 7-9 years, and 35% for 10+ years. Supermax is when a player with less than 10 years of experience gets a 35% of the cap max contract for up to 5 years. So their salaries are always going to go up as the cap goes up.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Tatum and White now both signed long term.  Great business by the Celtics.

We have our championship core locked up for the next few years now.

Our payroll for 27-28, for just 5 guys (Tatum, Brown, Jrue, White, and PP) is around 203 mill before incentives. That's zero bigs in there.

Is there any news about Tillman ? I would love to have him back, he is the only interior muscle that we have.
As for him filling in for Porzingis for awhile, then mostly sitting after he returns, it doesn't have to be that way.
I think he could flourish the way Pritchard and Hauser did if given consistent minutes. But Joe tends to bury these guys on the bench.

Holiday               Pritchard              Springer
White                 Hauser                 Scheierman
Brown                [   Vet?   ]             Walsh
Tatum                Horford                 [      ?     ]
Porzingis            Kornet                  Queta

2-way:  [Watson (2nd Rnd)?], [Peterson (RFA)?], [      ?    ]

If I understand this correctly, Davison was not extended a qualifying offer but Drew Peterson was.  So unless Peterson gets offered something better than a 2-way, it seems the Celtics intend to bring him back.  And this also seems to imply that Davison is not coming back.

I would not overread into Davison not being extended a QO.  Peterson?s qualifying offer could be for a 2-way deal, while a QO to Davison would, by rule, need to be a fully guaranteed NBA deal for 1 year.  Davison is still eligible to re-sign as a 2-way player with Boston for one more season, but he could not do that through the RFA process.  He will certainly look around as is his right, but I think the Celtics will bring him back if he doesn?t get an NBA deal from someone else.

That is good information. I am not sure we need Davison back.  But if we can get him on a 2-way for another year, that is fine.

I think we're in a very good position to get back to the Finals, but we probably need to watch the next season play out before we start talking about Dynasty (or any other 80's soap operas).

The dynasty talk is ridiculous.  Those discussions start after you've won multiple titles.

Trying winning a 2nd one first.  Also, so many variables and a bit of luck involved when winning a title.  Nothing is preordained. Even if you have the core locked in & coming back.

I do agree with this, unfortunately.  I do think we?re rightfully the strong favorites to win, but the field is obviously more likely than we were.  After winning in 2008, we returned all 5 starters and 7 of our top 8, but we bounced out in the second round after injuries.  Winning is difficult.  Staying healthy is difficult. I do think we have a better than normal chance for something dynastic given the age and contract status of our two best players, as well as how far ahead we were of the rest of the league throughout the year, but you?re always one bad leg injury away from your plans being thwarted.

Yep.  I've said it before, but one of the more remarkable facts is that the Spurs never won back-to-back titles.  Repeating is very hard.

Since Danny Granger was a comp for Tatum when he was drafted, I found this interesting:

Quote
Danny Granger?s career earnings: $71,140,777 Jayson Tatum?s 2030 player option: $71,446,822

Wild.

Does anyone have the details of Queta's contract? I was just curious if it was essentially like Sam Hauser's or something different?
