Tim Reynolds: Assuming all options are picked up, the Celtics now owe Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday about $910 million over the remaining time on their contracts.
Issue I have is players are allowed to make crazy money for things they achieve but the cap and all the cap rules work against this. I get guard rails but you can't have guys making 60 million a year (and this is going to be pretty common soon) with such a low cap.

So unless Peterson gets offered something better than a 2-way, it seems the Celtics intend to bring him back. And this also seems to imply that Davison is not coming back.I would not overread into Davison not being extended a QO. Peterson?s qualifying offer could be for a 2-way deal, while a QO to Davison would, by rule, need to be a fully guaranteed NBA deal for 1 year. Davison is still eligible to re-sign as a 2-way player with Boston for one more season, but he could not do that through the RFA process. He will certainly look around as is his right, but I think the Celtics will bring him back if he doesn?t get an NBA deal from someone else.

With our core locked up, is it dynasty talk now?

Those discussions start after you've won multiple titles. Trying winning a 2nd one first. Also, so many variables and a bit of luck involved when winning a title. Nothing is preordained. Even if you have the core locked in & coming back.

After winning in 2008, we returned all 5 starters and 7 of our top 8, but we bounced out in the second round after injuries. Winning is difficult. Staying healthy is difficult. I do think we have a better than normal chance for something dynastic given the age and contract status of our two best players, as well as how far ahead we were of the rest of the league throughout the year, but you?re always one bad leg injury away from your plans being thwarted.
