Nice one, Roy. He had a great peak season in 06.

Now that's a name I wasn't expecting to see this early - but a perfect example of what this draft is about, IMO.

I'll take a binkie:  Elton Brand.

Elton Brand was one of the PFs I was thinking about pairing with Alonzo Mourning. I liked the idea of Elton and Alonzo together.

Two undersized bigs with long, long arms and lots of muscle / physicality.

Blast you! Whilst I wanted to steer clear of guys I have previously had, I really wanted to pair C-Webb and Brand.

Yep. He was on my radar late in the 2nd, but wasn’t sure he’d last.

After much agonising, here goes.

With the 8th pick of the 1st round, the Orlando Magic select...

Chris Webber!

The prototype for modern big men to follow. Athletic, could shoot and handle, great at rebounding, good defensively.

Right around where I had him, but wasn’t sure if I was overrating him. Glad to see you agree.

I had both Brand and Mitch going quite a bit later but I liked both guys a lot heading into this.

What I really loved about Mitch was his physicality at SG. There are a lot of lightweight SGs. Mitch one of the few with real muscle. I loved the idea of building a physically powerful team and those ideas almost always ended up with Mitch on them.

The other thing I loved about Mitch was how well he played on Dream Team III. He looked very good alongside other top quality players. He blends well with others. His jumper was terrific. A major off-ball threat.

The last 2 picks I had as 3rd or 4th rounders.  I knew this draft was going to be crazy and it isn't disappointing
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Super underrated player. Perennial All-NBA calibre wing in his prime. Super efficient too

Really, this first round has been A lot of fun. it's had Surprises. Heartbreaks. Excitement. Elton Brand. Definitely left me doubting my Whole strategy. Also Lead me to Look at other players, other eras...And I almost did: Could have gone elsewhere, Except:

Ball Don't Lie.

Quote from: Andre Iguadala
"Rasheed Wallace probably could have been a top-five player in the league for a 10-year stretch," Iguodala said. "He was shooting half-court shots left-handed and right-handed. If Rasheed Wallace played in modern-day basketball, if he played in our league today, he’d be a top-five player in the league. He’d be better than Giannis, and I love Giannis."

The Washington Generals Follow in the Footsteps of the Washington Bullets, and select Rasheed Wallace with the 12th pick of the 2023 CS Historic Draft.

Sheed = the most perfect of all PFs to pair with Zo.

I thought they would've been an immense defensive pairing to anchor the team. Ah well.

Love the pick. He and C-Webb were both 10-15 years too early. They would dominate the modern game
