The Celtics are not able to offer center Kristaps Porzingis a two-year, $77 million contract extension until July 6. But when the three-team deal for Porzingis was being finalized last week, there was nothing stopping Porzingis’s camp from expressing its desire to be in Boston long term; according to a league source — and they did. 5 hours ago – via Boston Globe

That’s good to know. Now we wait for how Brad rounds up the roster.

Brandon Robinson: Kristaps Porzingis to @ballysports: “If the game is on the line, I want to receive the ball at the free-throw line. It’s the most comfortable (spot) for me, and it’s hard to double. So I would say there, but maybe a step-back from there. So that would be my “finishing move,” so to say.”  – via Twitter

The very first sentence that came off his lips was as follows: “Obviously, it’s a dream come true to be a part of the best organization in the NBA.”

Walsh’s feelings of gratitude continued to shine through as he met with the media about an hour later.

Walsh, who is just 19 years old, gushed constantly about landing with the Celtics. He is intrigued by the program and enamored by the history.

“I know what type of organization Boston is,” he stated with confidence. “I know that being able to be with guys like (Jayson) Tatum and (Jaylen) Brown, who can give me wisdom and who are in a winning environment, and been to the Playoffs so many times. An organization that has so many championships.

“To be in that environment, to grow in a place like that as your first place, so they set the foundation for your career? I feel like that’s the most important part is that foundation, and Boston has a great foundation for that.”

Walsh said he could feel that environment around him when he was inside the Auerbach Center for his two pre-Draft workouts.

“I got to be in the atmosphere of a Boston workout, and feel what it feels like to be in a winning culture’s workout in their gym. And you could feel it in everything you did,” Walsh said. “Even just doing ball handling drills and stretching; it’s always loud, people are screaming, people are always cheering you on.”

“I talked to Al Horford once,” he revealed. “We just texted, and I was like, ‘Hey, I’m coming to the city, I’m glad to be here, I’m ready to work. Hopefully I can be under your wing and you can show me the ropes.’”

Asked what the city is getting in him, Walsh responded without hesitation: “A guy who harps on defense. Who player super hard. Who is tough. Who is going to be consistent in that aspect of the game. Who is going to do the simple things that help winning, that maybe other people may overlook: diving on the floor.”

He continued, “I heard that Boston likes people who dive on the floor more than people who dunk the ball. So that guy’s going to be me.”

Makes you hope even more that he can contribute early on.  Does a little more than say the right things, sounds genuine, sounds like he does his homework, sounds like he’s got the kind of intensity fans here will love.  Looking forward to seeing him in SL, though not expecting much on offense. SL not known for defense, but we’ll see.

I like his intensity, on and off the court. He’s the anti-Romeo Langford.

He seems to have the right amount of humility too. I like what he’s saying
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but how come Tatum doesn't need surgery now? I thought his wrist was an issue?
Back to wanting Joe fired.

Has someone said explicitly he’s not getting surgery?  A lot of times these things go unannounced in the off-season if they have a short recovery time..  He’s not playing in FIBA this summer, so at a minimum he’s resting.

Per Boston.com it's a 'non-displaced fracture', which I suppose is one of those injuries where you can have surgery but don't have to?

This is the 2nd offseason he's had with this no? If surgery were necessary I think he would've had it by now. If surgery were optional in the way we know Brogdon's is, I think we would've heard about it by now. Unpopular take but I think he leans on that injury as an excuse for his shooting which could be explained by the number of high variance pull up 3's he takes (because he's still a 40% catch and shoot 3-point shooter), but realistically it should've long healed by now.

Israeli point guard Yam Madar, 22, who Boston drafted in 2020, could still arrive for training camp after his international duties this summer. Boston has room on the back end of its roster for a point guard with good pace control and vision like Madar, though he still has a lot of development both in his skills and physicality to be ready for the NBA. But multiple league sources believe Madar felt should be ready for a two-way this upcoming season.  – via Jared Weiss @ The Athletic

Why would Madar take a 2-way isnt he already a $1m+ year Euro contract?
ok fine
