Celtics not currently looking to trade Malcolm Brogdon

The injury could still require surgery, but Brogdon is expected to be ready for the start of the season regardless, sources said. A league source said Friday that the Celtics are not currently looking to trade Malcolm Brogdon, and that they are comfortable bringing the reigning Sixth Man of the Year back in that role next season.  – via Boston Globe

Great news to hear that. Clippers really danged that deal with the concerning and overreacting report of his injury. But imagine if that trade gone through and we shipped out Brogdon for Porzingis...would have been an interesting one.

Pretty sure the follow up deal would have been Smart to Memphis for Tyus and the same Picks.

Celtics reportedly met with Dalano Banton. I haven’t seen much of him, but he’s a lengthy, poor shooting point guard from Canada. Could be a nice addition to our bench. It seems like with limited budget Brad is targeting cheap players that in his mind are about breakout. However, I’ve seen a Pop quote, that he’d love to have Banton on his team. If that’s the case, we probably will get outbid with more money and less competition.

Banton is an intriguing one. Good passer and defender (if foul-prone), but he can't shoot a lick despite taking a fair few. Would be alright with him as a 2-way (think he's eligible?)

Interesting take. Could be true.

he only has to be better than kabengele to be a plus on the celtics. that should not be too high a hurdle to jump.

Mo Bamba is great talent wise for a 3rd string center but appearently he lacks a work ethic and dedication. Not the type of guy PBS has looked for in 3rd stringers. He has looked for good soldiers. Guys who are happy not playing. Who will stay ready. Who will cheer on their teammates and create a good atmosphere. Guys who are professional and supportive of their teammates. It doesn't sound like Mo Bamba is that.

I would be more interested in Bamba as a rotation regular than a 3rd stringer because at least he will stay somewhat engaged if he is playing regularly. Obviously Boston can't offer him that.

I don't see him as a great fit for us although talent wise I love it.

thanks for the insights. if bamba's head is not screwed on well, PBS most certainly does not want him.

It never made sense to move Brogdon after the smart trade went through.

Considering van fleet is making 43 million for averaging basically what Brogdon did in Indiana, 20million is a steal

Wonder what's up with that? Maybe waiting on the grant contract?

Maybe funky wording or something? All news has been that Celtics will offer him it.

I really don’t know. Maybe some details need to be agreed upon, like an opt out clause as some have suggested?

Possibly, or some other logistical reason. Just because the date has arrived that he is eligible to sign an extension doesn't mean it is going to happen on that date.
