Israeli point guard Yam Madar, 22, who Boston drafted in 2020, could still arrive for training camp after his international duties this summer. Boston has room on the back end of its roster for a point guard with good pace control and vision like Madar, though he still has a lot of development both in his skills and physicality to be ready for the NBA. But multiple league sources believe Madar felt should be ready for a two-way this upcoming season.  – via Jared Weiss @ The Athletic

Why would Madar take a 2-way isnt he already a $1m+ year Euro contract?

Not sure it was for that much.  Even so, a 2-way is $550k and starts his service clock, which is probably worth near 1 year at a million in Europe.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but how come Tatum doesn't need surgery now? I thought his wrist was an issue?

Don't be shocked if next postseason is the third straight one where we hear about Tatum being hampered by a wrist injury.

Seeing also that Javonte Green would like to come back to the C's.  Have to be on a discount, but he and Tatum are friends.

He's restricted, right?  Chicago would likely match?

No, he's not restricted.  Coming off a minimum deal too, I think, so a minimum to return to Boston wouldn't seem to be an impossible hope.

I would absolutely love that Javonte idea. Advanced stats darling, brings that defensive intensity we lost with Smart. Has gotten better offensively. He would be awesome.

Hard not to like him, but offensively he was remarkably identical to career averages in 2022-23.  In other words, I think he’s plateaued offensively - but who knows, he’s 29.   Good bench guy - lots of heart.

We've offered JD Davison the qualifying offer at $1.76m, making him a restricted free agent.

I wonder if he has any market beyond that

Brad Stevens on free agency: We got the green light to continue to add

Tim Bontemps: Brad Stevens says the Celtics still have the green light to continue to add to their roster despite being well into the luxury tax, but added the important thing is to be smart about how they go about building out the roster to have the most well-rounded team possible. – via Twitter TimBontemps

Tim Bontemps: Kristaps Porzingis says he believes he’s entering his prime. “Physically you’re there, and mentally you’re getting to a different level.” He said he sought out ways to be more efficient and healthier and saw both of those things play out last year and believes that can continue. – via Twitter TimBontemps

Tim Bontemps: Kristaps Porzingis said he’s really excited to be back on a big stage again, and said being traded to Boston made him realize he had missed that in recent seasons, though he added that he enjoyed his time in Dallas and Washington.  – via Twitter TimBontemps

How much could another team (say the Rockets) offer him? If no ceiling, we may be in situation where we can't match for double apron purposes. Hope not...

Other teams can offer him whatever they want,  then we have a chance to match. Or he can just accept the QO and become an unrestricted free agent next offseason.

In which case we'd still have his bird rights.

Does anyone know of a case where an unproven second rounder got a good offer from another team in this situation? If just one GM in the league believes in him, it drives up the price. But off the top of my head I can't think of any examples where a guy basically hasn't played but more than the QO.

Porzingis is in the building!

KP interview with Forsberg:

Articulate in a non-first language - I find that impressive. Decent casual interview with Forsberg. At first blush seems like a good guy and someone who is glad to be here.
