Surprised that he was fired, as opposed to leaving on his own.

Not close enough to the team to determine whether he was tuned out or whatever but that roster was borked from the start.  They had one point guard (who had a bad year - possibly because he was overburdened), no bigs until the trade deadline, and about four hundred 6'8" PFs with shaky outside shots.  Surprise!  Your team can't shoot.  You got exactly what you deserved.  So I really don't view this as Nurse's fault.

If I'm in the market for a coach this offseason, he's at the top of my list.  Sideline histrionics aside, I think he's a very good coach.  And unlike a certain somebody else, you (hopefully) don't have to worry about him banging his way through your organization.

If he left on his own, pretty sure that would result in him forfeiting the $8M that he was owed from Toronto. Will be interesting to see where Nurse ends up.

Fair point.

Phil Jackson hasn't watched NBA since the bubble, believes game has become too political: Politics don't need to be there

Aside from the fact that the game has changed, Phil Jackson also doesn’t like the idea of the league becoming too political for his liking. It started in the NBA bubble when the league, together with its players, utilized its platform to address a vast array of social issues. But according to Jackson, the NBA would be viewed better if it wasn’t too associated with politics.

“ … All the teams that could qualify went down there and stayed down there, no audience, and they had things on their back like ‘Justice’ and a funny thing happened like ‘Justice went to the basket and Equal Opportunity knocked him down’… Some of my grandkids thought it was pretty funny to play up those names; I couldn’t watch that,” Phil said. “The Lakers won that year,” Jackson continued. “They even had slogans on the floor and the baseline. It was trying to cater to an audience or trying to bring a certain audience to the game, and they didn’t know it was turning other people off. People want to see sports as non-political. Politics stays out of the game; it doesn’t need to be there.” – via Basketball Network

Could care less what that senile old man Phil Jokerson thinks.

He should be praising Shaq/Tim Donoughy for the 3peat rings. Praise the KG injury and Perkins injury/Joey Crawford for the other two.

Multiple NBA execs expect Nets to pursue Damian Lillard if he hits trade market

If Lillard and Portland decide a parting of ways is best for both sides, multiple NBA executives believe the Nets could be a suitor for the All-Star guard but were unsure if Brooklyn could ultimately land him in a trade. “Dame would be the leader they (Nets) need,” an NBA executive told HoopsHype. “I’m just not sure they have the pieces to get him, but they should try. The picks they have coming in aren’t great. It would probably take Ben Simmons’ contract to make the numbers work, but you’d have to attach picks to him on top of the picks you need for Lillard.” “I can see the Nets going for Dame, but he’s older, and that contract is so high,” another NBA executive told HoopsHype. “He could be worth a couple of firsts and a good young player.” – via Michael Scotto

Lauri wins Most Improved Player.

Man, that was a tough category.  Brunson, SGA, & Lauri all had very strong arguments.

for me he was the biggest shock because I only seen him ball for Finland like that driving to the basket and dunking on people, in the league he looked like kelly O, just average, after this trade he took it to the next level. Bruson, I knew Luka dominating the ball was holding him back and SGA always been a hooper.

Miami just doesn’t have the offensive firepower to keep up without Herro.

Giannis missed some games but he’s back now. Heat really miss Herro especially in a game like today

Banchero wins ROY award. Orlando 100% made the right choice drafting him #1 overall. I think they might be a playoff team next year.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards was cited for third-degree assault after he allegedly swung a chair that struck two female employees following the team's series-ending loss to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night in Game 5 at Ball Arena, the Denver Police Department said Wednesday.

The incident occurred as Edwards headed toward the Wolves' locker room after the loss and swung a folding chair, injuring the employees, according to Denver police. The injuries were not serious, Denver police spokesman Jay Casillas said.

"We are aware of the alleged incident regarding Anthony Edwards following Game 5 in Denver and are in the process of gathering more information," the Wolves said in a statement released Wednesday night. "We have no further comment at this moment."

Edwards is scheduled for a June 9 court date in Denver, according to the citation. Third-degree assault is a class one misdemeanor in the state of Colorado. If convicted, Edwards faces possible jail time and a fine of up to $1,000.
