We didn’t get the result we wanted, but I wanted to congratulate my brothers in that Celtics locker room. They earned the series Win and I wish them well as they advance. Nothing but love competing against them.

Thought this was interesting.

As much as the fans (of pretty much every team at this point) hate him, it seems like he's still well-liked across the league, including in Boston.

So he hates boston (the fans) but he like the guys on the Celtics?  I guess that is possible, but it seems a bit...umm  bs?

He keeps trying to drive the wedge between the Boston team and the fans. This is typical melodrama relational conflict from a manipulative person. I understand that he is a likeable guy in ways. I think he talks from his heart and is very genuine with his fellow players, which is a genuineness that I'm sure is somewhat rare to find in the NBA at times.

But my read on him is that he is a very emotionally intelligent person individually and is able to endear people to himself, but that at the same time has manipulative behavior to convince people of narratives or of doing what he wants them to do.

Stephen A. Smith rips Cryie in a huge way!!!

Quote
Friday, Stephen A. Smith praised Irving as “arguably the most spectacular talent in the NBA,” but ripped the Nets star for trying to create a narrative that he’s being mistreated by the media.

“We are witnessing one of the most delusional athletes in American history. He’s lost, because he’s so big on telling everbody else they’re lost.

Kyrie is also slick, because he’s trying to get away with something I’m not going to allow him to get away with.

… What it comes down to and what everybody’s focusing on: You don’t want to show up to work. You want to do what you want to do, when you want to do it, how you want to do it, while you’ve got your hand out for somebody else’s money.”

I think we need to get over Kyrie. We’re headed to a title and he just got swept by us. He could have surpassed LeBron’s number of titles and built a real legacy with JT/JB/Smart/Horford/Timelord. Instead he’s got a 1-3 NBA Finals record with no future appearances in sight. He screwed up.

This dude gave the middle finger to Celtics fans multiple times in Game 1 and made those comments as well both during the game and post-game. Sorry but I'm no longer defending Kyrie one bit on anything. Screw him and good riddance. Enjoy him for 248M, Brooklyn (haha)

I am still very bothered by the fact that not one Celtic retaliated in any way for Kyrie's logo stomp.
Think of the four previous championship groups - no opponent would even dare think of pulling that stunt on any of them.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

I don't think it's fair to compare Ray to Kyrie. Ray never quit on anyone. He never lied and schemed behind his teammates backs. He sacrificed a lot of his game when he came to Boston to make things work, Kyrie woud never.

I think the Celtics are grown ups and aren't going to give further attention to an immature head case doing childish things.

They most likely thought giving Kyrie an even larger media spotlight for his ridiculousness was something they simply weren't going to do. They most likely thought the best response was to toss Kyrie out of the playoffs in a sweep and expose Kyrie for the fraud he is.

Agreed.  It's tough that he left for a rival, but Danny also tried to trade him to Memphis without notice, had given away his starting spot, and put him on the backburner in free agency.  If the man's ego was bruised, I get it, and his decision to leave won him a ring (which he greatly contributed to.)

True. that infamous All-star game where Kyrie was plotting with KD in the hallway in front of the cameras. it was straight out of the WWE. You couldn't hear the words, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I remember thinking there was no way he could be so classless and stupid to be actually talking about changing teams during the season on national TV.

Boy, did I sell Kyrie short.

Can't imagine Ray - or anybody else, for that matter - being so disrespectful and narcissistic. In retrospect KD should have seen that as a major red flag regarding Kyrie's character and loyalty.

The leaving was never the problem (or at least I hope that isn't what some of you hold over him), is that he went specifically to our biggest rivals at the time... a team that had just eliminated us from the playoffs no less. And he did it for less money than we offered on top of it. If that isn't a BS move from a player you're a fan of, I don't know what is. The relationship between a player and a fanbase is a special one, what Danny and ownership did or didn't do is really of little importance.

And it's the same reason why I hold little respect for Kevin Durant, despite how amazing he is on the basketball court.

except Boston was no longer a rival to Miami.  I mean that 1st season Ray was in Miami and they won the title, Boston was a 41-40 team that lost to the Knicks in 6 games in the 1st round and after that season Ray and PP were traded away.  Boston wasn't a contender anymore.  Ray knew it.  Ainge knew it.  It was only the fans that didn't understand it, so they unreasonably held that against Ray.

Never understood the Ray hate. He was integral in winning a title. He gave this team 110% every moment before games, during games, during practice and during team sponsored events off the court.

Ainge tried to trade him without informing him. Doc demoted him to the bench. His contract ran out and he decided to sign elsewhere for less money because he felt it would be easier to win another title in Miami than Boston, something he was right about.

What exactly did Ray do to deserve such scorn? I'll never understand it.
