I was all but run off this platform for harshly criticizing Kyrie about 1.5 years before the masses.

Glad to see the Celtics community nearly unanimously now acknowledges Kyrie for the arrogant, petulant, and selfish clown that he is.

Almost as if when facts change, opinions should change - but not before.

If Bill Self winds up getting stung for pay for play three years from now it doesn't mean you were right about him because UNC choked away a game against Kansas.

Kyrie sucks, but you've been anti Kyrie since 2010.

While this is certainly true, I personally feel that there were seeds of weirdness there that I was happy to overlook because I wanted him to succeed.

He's definitely a lot weirder now

Kyrie repeatedly talking about “where I’m from” after the game to justify his toughness.  The guy grew up in an affluent suburb.  Talk to some of the guys who actually grew up in hell, like Marcus Smart.

Not really.  He was just as weird in Cleveland as he is now.

Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Nah he wasn’t openly an anti vaxxer then, sitting out games to go to town halls. Wasn’t even a vegan then or spouting a lot of the stuff then. And you know this. Dishonest post.

Stay classy, Kyrie…

I hope fans don't start throwing things...would be an ugly scene and take away from a potentially great series....rather see C's fans keep their cool and not react too strongly beyond some extra boos, despite the new apparent zero tolerance policy Kyrie has employed... ::) ::)

Gouki you are a 100% right. He was a little eccentric at times in Cleveland and perhaps even a bit childish and distant with his teammates. But he has 1000% leaned into his persona since then and become a much different personality because of it. He wasn’t flipping off fans in Cleveland or Boston behind his head like he did today. He was not sitting out games regularly in Boston or Cleveland  over things like vax laws (or personal reasons like last year) Honestly, there are a lot of signs of things to worry about that were not there 3-4 years ago and that is one of the reasons I try to not bash him too much. There are things to be concerned about. Flicking off fans and yelling suck my whatever at people is not normal behavior. The fan interactions kind of remind me of Antonio brown to be honest.

Never forgive, never forget.

Esp that unnecessary stomping his feet on the logo last year.

I remember, tarheels.

Those of us who were bothered by his behavior were characterized as always being negative and even anti-Celtic. No, we were being pro-Celtic because we saw Irving for the cancer that he is. I didn't like acquiring him from the start, but he really showed his true colors when he did not even bother to show up for Game 7 vs Cleveland in the 2018 ECF. Then, that nauseating commercial he did with his father playing 1-on-1 in the Boston Garden along with announcing that he wanted to sign long-term "if you'll have me."

You are right, Gouki, about his mental condition deteriorating even since then. But he did plenty during his time with Boston to demonstrate his complete self-centered persona. Danny should have seen it and unloaded the guy at the 2019 trade deadline.

Kyrie stomped on the logo!
No excuse for that.

I hope our boys remember the disrespect!

Go ask forgiveness somewhere else.  As far as I am concerned; he is Celtics enemy  #1  >:(
Unfortunately his ex-teammates (Smart especially along with the Jays) don't feel the same. No one will knock him on his arse. I hope Grant will and I hope Ime will encourage some hard fouls on Kyrie.

Exactly.

It bothers me a lot that our guys didn't even seem to take offense at Irving's foot stomp. They have continued with the post-game love-hugs since the incident. For all our improvements, this team still needs a harder mental edge.

the vaccine stuff wasn't an issue so no one asked him, but the personality is exactly the same.  This is guy who said the earth was flat, who got upset his team acquired someone better than him, who refused to talk to teammates during the playoffs, etc.  Irving is exactly who has always been.  It is a big part of the reason I never wanted to acquire him and I got killed for it, especially by you, claiming things like I didn't like him because he jilted Cleveland. No, I didn't like him because he has always been a weirdo and an a hole, which I knew because I saw him for a bunch of years in Cleveland. In addition to him refusing to play defense and missing 25% of the games due to injury.  Irving is exactly the same person he has always been i.e. an eccentric weirdo a hole.

I think Irving is the exact same guy that he was in Cleveland.   I think Irving has figured out how to use his power better nowadays, especially the power to use social media to attempt to control the narrative of his decisions.  I think we got the exact same mentally disturbed jerk who played for Cleveland but I think his head is bigger now, and he's more happy to go against the grain nowadays.
