From MassLive:

https://www.masslive.com/celtics/2022/04/kyrie-irving-wants-celtics-to-show-his-garden-highlights-have-fans-move-forward-from-his-boston-era.html

Quote
Kyrie Irving has not received a warm welcome from Boston fans ever since going back on his preseason declaration on his plans to re-sign with the team in the summer of 2019.

Irving’s remarks about Boston and a stomp on the team’s center court logo during last year’s postseason series created plenty of controversies. However as Irving and the Nets set to prepare for a first round rematch with Boston starting Sunday at TD Garden, Irving is hoping everyone can feel more positively about his two years.

Why does the person who does the wrong always want people to forgive and forget?

Seen it before in life and with the Cs.

And this:

Quote
In his media availability with reporters on Friday, Irving addressed his hope about his relationship with Celtics fans instead of serving as a villain for the series.

AND he wants them to play his highlights:

Quote
I just hope we can move past kind of my Boston era, and just reflect on some of the highlights I left at TD Garden that they can replay. And just move forward.

Why don’t we just retire his # too?

Forgiveness is a different concept to me when dealing with someone with an obvious mental illness. I’m not as harsh because some of the things that he does are out of his control. In that, once I found out that he is nuts (I think it was around the time of the flat earth stuff), I already significantly reduced my expectations of normal and just accepted him for who he is.

So yeah, I forgive him, but I obviously can’t forget (I wouldn’t boo him but I’d be VERY opposed to him rejoining the team).

Yeah good luck with that Kyrie. There's almost nothing in the world he can possibly do to prevent the boos from raining down on him all series long in Boston at this point.

Kyrie stomped on the logo!
No excuse for that.

I hope our boys remember the disrespect!

Go ask forgiveness somewhere else.  As far as I am concerned; he is Celtics enemy  #1  >:(

Agree with Erik...low expectations...just move on...I hope the fans don't turn the booing into too much of a sideshow...at the start yes unavoidable...but...then I'd like to focus on basketball and not this guy's personality, issues, history, etc...

I just can’t forget when it quit on the Celtics in his last playoff series here.
He wanted to leave, fine, but quit?
Nope, can’t forgive that

I'll forgive him....

As long as he gives up this series like he gave up playing against the bucks in 2019. Played w one foot out the door, maybe two.

I'm with the letting it go because I agree Irving isn't all there. I don't mind booing at the free throw line really hard. The whole game thing is silly. Save the energy for cheers.

People have every right to be p---ed off at the guy.

The vitriol is deserved in my book.

If he showed genuine remorse and actually apologized for all of his antics, I'd probably let things rest. However, Kyrie is a textbook narcissist, so actually admitting fault is tantamount to falling on the sword to him. It's never gonna happen.

He can’t help himself. He just keeps stirring the pot.

Think about it. There are Cavaliers fans and even some former Cavs players who still hate Kyrie, and Kyrie hit the biggest shot in their franchise's history. That should tell you everything lol.

Even Harden basically gave up on the Nets because of Kyrie and his antics.

If it weren't for KD, I'm curious where Kyrie would be because it's also blatantly obvious Kyrie going to BKN was part of a package deal with KD.
