Currently the C’s don’t have any players over 6’9”.

Oh right, how could I forget...  :P

playable players?
Nothing against Luke (except his lack of talent), but I would have rather had WCS or Moses Brown.

He doesn’t do anything well. Thought maybe he was shooting well in the g-league, nope. 31% from 3pt. I have no idea what Brad sees in him.
It's not like Cauley-Stein and Moses Brown have GMs clamouring to sign them onto their roster. Seems like all the options at this point are equally terrible.

I thought Brad Wannamaker played pretty well during his stint in Boston. I'm surprised he isn't playing with anyone.

He might be worth a 10 day contract to see if he fits in.  He's aggressive and has a high motor. Might be a good match for this team which plays up-tempo.

Can't shoot.

Then he fits right in.

We need an outlier.

I’m a liar and can’t shoot ……does this work  :)

For?

The Boston Celtics are planning to sign forwards Malik Fitts and Kelan Martin to 10-day contracts, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Fitts spent time with Jazz this season; Martin played in 27 games for Pacers
Never heard of these guys

They are both 6'5" and 230 lbs according to internet pages. I guess they are both trying to be Grant Williams backups. It they can play hefty and short defense, maybe Grant can teach them how to shoot the 3 over the summer.

Kelan Martin is more of a small forward - he's not in the GW mold.  He is also not terrible, esp since we are so thin there.   Fitts hasn't played much NBA ball at all - bet he doesn't see the floor.

I like that BS has targeted players with plus strength and length fir their positions. Just reading about them Martin seems like a candidate for a full roster spot and Fitts the open 2-way

We really need to get a Wing in the buyout market. we literally have no one on the bench that can play SF.

Last thing you gotta worry about for Brad it seems

Just a million wings. I think a couple years back we had the Jays and Gordon and a few other wings, just all the wings and I think that was Brad's doing (vs. Ainge and his guards and scrappy dudes).

Brad doesn't see positions traditionally - sees it as being ballhandler, swing, wing and big or something like that right? And I think he mentioned you can be both - a swing and a ballhandler for example and that seems valued.

Really reflected in this iteration of the Celtics. White and Smart for all your point guard minutes? That's hella big.

Reflected in draft choices too. Timelord plays like a swing, Grant kind of a swing.

Kelan Martin looks massive from just the highlights. Brad recruited him at Butler. I like it.

This is just a random hunch but Kelan Martin seems like a pretty good pickup for a scrap heap wing signed on a tight deadline.

Good athleticism, decent size, some defensive potential and a guy who can make 30-40% of his 3’s based on the past 2 seasons.

Probably. I look at it this way: I'd rather have a big that once showed something in this league vs. a big who has never shown anything in this league.

Don’t have a clue who either one of these guys are, but would have preferred at least one shooter. From what I read, seems like they both the same kind of player.

I guess the idea is that Willie will replace Drummond.  I wonder if the Celtics even tried.

As to Fitts and Martin, they are both 2-way level players, maybe Martin a little better.  I understand the need to sign them, they will be fine, but they are not going to make any difference.  They will add about what Hauser and Thomas have added through the season, if that.

I guess there is still about a week for other players to free up or make final decisions.  There are still a number of players out there according to reports, who you would expect to be better than Martin or Fitts.  Maybe some additional will be released still.  It seems that the Celtics are going to wait until the last day so that the prorated contracts are as small as possible.  They may already have "understandings" in place.

Some names that seem worth considering:

Dennis Smith
Stauskas
Parker
Nader
Kris Dunn (I think we could sign him)

There does seem to be players out there with some level of NBA track record.

Makes sense, he's got the talent to provide most of what Drummond was giving them.
