I'm all for Hayward coming back asap, but who do you pull for him in a game like this? Because it's certainly not Smart.

Definitely Smart. Don't get me wrong, Smart was incredible today, but he's a wildly inconsistent offensive player. With our stars already being inconsistent, I think Gordon would help the starting lineup with his consistency.

Anybody.  Some rest would have helped tremendously.

Kemba with the way he was playing. Smart on Lowry, Tatum on FVV and Hayward on Powell down the stretch would have probably won us the game

Of course I specifically mean late 4th and OT. Of course we could use Hayward for as many minutes as possible throughout the game. I understand that guys needed rest down the stretch, but it is very common for coaches to stick with a certain line-up in these situations. I agree that it probably should be situational, but the only guy consistently bringing it in crunch time was Smart.

100% Smart.  He's the only one I trusted with the ball in the 2nd half, followed by Jaylen.  Kemba needs to be more aggressive and draw defenders, but I prefer Smart as the primary facilitator Fri.

Assuming G is fit and playing at his previous level, I think you play the 5 that we've closed tight games with the whole year - Smart, Kemba, the Jays, and G. Subbing Kemba out for Theis on defensive possessions as the situation requires.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

His out time has gone from 4 weeks to 4-6 weeks. If 6 weeks, he wouldn't be ready until the finals.  Assuming we get that far, of course.

I think 4 weeks in Monday Sept 14, right?

late to the party on this conversation but i must agree with gouki88 on this one.

jambr380, as you stated, it’s purely situational, and in this case kemba was not bringing anything to the offense and his defense was a significant liability. run the offense through gordo or smart, and the matchups mentioned by gouki88 (smart on lowry, tatum on FVV and hayward on powell) probably do win us the game.

toronto was feasting on that high PnR switch to iso kemba, particularly in crunch time. if kemba was lighting it up on offense, it’s probably a different decision, but last night would have been a no-brainer with gordo available.

Does anyone know when is the new deadline for Hayward to pick his option?

I think we’re at around 3.5 weeks right now

I agree. With Tatum as the tallest player, spacing would finally be there for the celtics because of the 5 shooters lineup. It would open up the lane for the drives.

I'd have pulled Theis. If they're out there playing Siakam at the 5, then I want the 5 best players we have on the floor, and that's Kemba/Smart/Brown/Hayward/Tatum.

They've killed us with their small lineup, with Hayward in there it would be us with the advantage instead. That probably cuts out our run of not scoring at the end of the 4th quarter.
I'm bitter.
