Unexpected Hayward update.  Expected to rejoin bubble "soon."

https://twitter.com/celtics/status/1300495500848828416

This is odd.  I mean isn't he supposed to be out of the bubble again in a couple weeks for the birth of his child?
Not that it is a bad thing to have our guys together, just seems weird.

I had the same thought. What's the point of his returning to the bubble if he's going to leave again? Unless you think he can return for at least a game before his wife gives birth, but that sounds unlikely.

Sounds like he is being a good teammate and trying to get back if he can, even if he might become unavailable again quickly.

Never hurts to have all the guys together and cheering each other on.

Unless they are having a nose job or whatever and doesn’t want to be seen with bandages or bruising.

Or, of course, if they simply don't care much about anything or anyone outside of themselves and blow off an Eastern Finals Game 7 without a second thought.
The Four Celtic Generals:

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:

Minor update.  "OK" doesn't sound all that encouraging.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29780651/boston-celtics-say-gordon-hayward-rehab-going-ok

Yeah, not exactly the news we all wanted to hear. That was the first I've heard about Hayward's gait being off, too. Like, when is that going to correct itself?

At this point, with the injury and the baby, I think we should consider ourselves lucky if Hayward was ready to return by the Finals. Let's keep rolling Cs!

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I speculated a few days ago about the disconnect between Grade 3 sprain and 4 week recovery. That was medically inconsistent. Grade 2 sprains take about 4 weeks to recover, Grade 3 can take several months.  I have prepared myself not to see Gordon the rest of this season, hoping he will prove me wrong.

I'm not too concerned by that.  If Brad had instead worded it as "he's still favoring one leg", would you even bat an eye? That's pretty standard for 2 weeks after a severe ankle sprain, and should correct itself as the ankle gets closer to game ready

4 weeks definitely seems too aggressive, though
I'm bitter.

Yeah, the Cs’ timetables for injury return have often been pretty optimistic

I think that's just a byproduct of a sprained ankle, you obviously would be favoring it while walking which would affect your gait.

Like other teams who have lost players, I think they're planning to not be with him for the balance of the playoffs. If he comes back it would be a bonus.

So he might even miss the start of next season?

Sounds like this might be the Celtics of 2018 where Hayward went down and the undermanned C's took it to 7 games in the East Finals.

Let's hope they can replicate that but win it all this year.

At least when we win it all, Hayward can always claim that he played in the 2020 playoffs for the champion Cs...even if it was only for one game. What a game, though

So, on the broadcast, they mentioned that Robin is due at the end of the month.

I thought she was due on the 12th of this month?

CBS Boston says “mid-September”.

This was also confusing. Is Gordon planning on staying in the bubble for the duration (should the Cs continue their run) or will he be leaving again? This tweet from Robyn seems to insinuate he might be staying in.

I will say, I was a little frustrated when I first heard he was going to leave, but if he is changing his mind, then major props to him. I think we would all welcome him back!
