I think Jimmy Butler is not that far behind Paul George.  Not that far of a reach here, I had Paul George as a second round player and Butler as a third round player.
I think there's a significant difference between the two - I think George is flat out a better player on both ends of the court (yes Butler is a better playmaker, but he loses ground with worse scoring and a ball dominant game). But yeah it's not a huge reach, I was just surprised that the Heat didn't try to select an All-NBA calibre wing from the 00s with a less ball dominant game.
Yeah, plus given the whole Minny debacle I feel as if JB alongside Dwight could be... interesting
I think he would get chewed up by Dwight if he ever tried to be confrontational - Dwight was an MVP calibre guy while Butler was an All-NBA wing at best.
Yeah, maybe you're right. Feel like that team is so far, a trio of guys who, as Nick aptly put it, are always the bridesmaid, never the bride

Yeah but the reason Butler chewed out ***** wasn't because of his talent caliber, it was because he didn't work hard enough and take the game seriously enough.  Which is a clear character issue with Dwight as well.

To be fair ***** was on par with Butler at best back then and was still very much a youngster looking to prove himself. It's easier to chew out someone when their status is lower or on par with you, it's really difficult to go after someone who's above you.

Come on. Please stop with the names of players not drafted

This was the guy in my mind when I mentioned All-NBA calibre wings with a less ball dominant game. Excellent pick.

Had to choose a pic of him stuffing my guy Elton huh?

Ironically was also looking at him with my pick. Great choice. Such a versatile defender and a great rebounder. Had some good shooting years too, despite the funky release

Good lineup versatility there with T-Mac, Marion and Anthony Davis.

Go big with T-Mac and Marion on the wings and AD at PF or small and quick with each player sliding up a slot. AD at center, Marion at PF, T-Mac at SF.

Terrific quickness, length and athleticism with each guy too.

Speaking of the picture, his physique looks great - the limbs especially scream athletic freak in great shape.

From an outsider with no horse in the race, here's some my thoughts browsing the teams as they're assembled so far:

Utah - Favorite so far.  Dominate Shaq, with a unselfish two-way do everything PG in Kidd, and a shooter in Peja.  I like it.

Lakers - Just looks like a fun balanced team.  I don't know how well anybody really fits with Kobe, but I think Lillard would fit as well as anybody.  And I think Webber would fit like a better version of Gasol on those '08-'10 Lakers teams.

Denver - I'm picturing some combo of Grit n Grind Grizzlies, 90's Knicks, Bad Boy Pistons.  Nobody is going to want to play that team.  Whoever they play, not going to be a pretty series.

Indiana - Going for an all international team?

Milwaukee - If this was pro wrestling, I'd take that 3-man tag team over the NWO, the Horsemen, the Shield, the New Day, whoever you got.

Brooklyn - Definitely not appealing to my individual playoff success bias, going with TMac/AD.  They'll be fun, but worry they lack that alpha leadership.

Clippers - Clean Cut, Nice Guy team.  These guys will dominate your church  league for sure.  2 model Dukies, and the biggest babyface in the league.  Is there a visible tattoo in the bunch?  (Actually yes, but had to look it up).

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I do have a question.

Not that I think Shawn Marion can't play wing, I believe he can, but his two All-NBA seasons he played as a PF.

Is that a bit of a dillemma?

Denver and Toronto are my two favourite teams thus far. For a similar reason, I just love what they have put together defensively and I believe they have created a great foundation to add more talent to. To allow other star players to fill a role more easily than some other teams are able to.

Keeping an eye on Dallas and Utah. They are both strong as well but their teams haven't taken shape as much as Denver and Toronto already have. Still creating their respective identities.

Not high on Dallas.  Don't think the Lebron and Luka combo works well.  Luka would look a lot better on OKC for example.
