He's a bad fit next to LeBron, but imo he's a top 10 player in this draft (even at the age of 21).
So far I've heard Grant Hill and now Luka Doncic described as "top 10 players in this draft".
LBJ, Shaq, KG, Duncan, Curry, Kawhi, Durant, Giannis, Kobe, Dirk, 06 DWade. Thats 11 players all of which are an MVP or a Finals MVP. I'd can't find one, nevermind two guys there that Luka or Grant Hill are even close to.
I did have Luka as a late second rounder though, so he's a good value. He just requires the ball in his hands to be most effective, which is why I didn't take him and probably why he's sliding. I've got 5 other players that I considered first-second round talents still available to be drafted too.
Gimme Luka and/or prime Grant Hill over Dirk and Wade. Probably over Kobe as well. Was never a fan of his ISO-heavy game.
Gimme Luka over Giannis. Love Giannis, but he hasn't proved that he can dominate slow paced games. I mean, he couldn't even dominate the FIBA World Championship against clearly inferior opponents. Brazil clogged the paint and Giannis committed at least 2 (maybe 3, can't remember right now) offensive fouls while trying to attack the basket. Eventually, he fouled out. The refs made some questionable calls, but that's a whole nother story.
My point is that Giannis is a great regular season player. Not sure whether he has what it takes in order to dominate in the post season (when the pace of the game slows down). I'll believe it when I see it.
I firmly believe that you guys sleep on Luka cause you haven't seen him play in do-or-die games yet (=playoff games). I've seen 18-year-old Luka leading tiny little Slovenia (alongside Dragic) to the gold medal in the 2017 European Championship! I've seen 19-year-old Luka leading his team to the 2018 Euroleague title while winning Regular Season and Final Four MVP honors! The European Championship and the Euroleague are no joke. Doncic was just a kid and he was dominating everybody! I'm telling you guys, Luka is the real deal!
