#NBA Celtics - The framework that Danny Ainge has offered the Pelicans (player wise) is Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, G. Yabusele, and Robert Williams for Anthony Davis. David Griffin is using the Lakers for “leeway” to receive more draft picks in any deal from Boston.

If that’s true - he’s probably trying to get the Memphis pick out of this, as well. Can’t imagine that he’ll get it though, as that’s a lot to risk.

So this framework has been mentioned for a long time as the basis for the trade.  If we gave up the Memphis pick is there anyway we can keep Smart?  If we are trading for Davis, we are looking to contend right now, Smart would be way more valuable to us right now then a pick that may or may not be good later.

#NBA Celtics - Kyrie Irving’s team has let Danny Ainge know that he will not be returning to Boston unless a deal is made for Anthony Davis.(Closed)

He is basically saying here that Kyrie will re-sign in Boston if we trade for AD. That would be enormous breaking news if true.

This guy has almost no credibility, but he posted a rumor that I would like to believe so I gave him a follow.

Caesars sportsbook also took a "big bet" on the Lakers for next year, according to Berg [Caesars sportsbook senior oddsmaker], who says the real challenge for bookmakers begins now. "We're playing this game where hopefully we're on top of the information before everyone else is," Berg said.

No one should regret not making a strong play for Kawhi Leonard last summer more than the Celtics, argues Zach Lowe of ESPN. Boston had plenty of assets to offer when the Spurs put Leonard on the market, but wasn’t willing to part with Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown unless there were more assurances about Leonard’s health and willingness to re-sign with the organization. Lowe notes that the Celtics thought they already had a championship team in place and that adding another maximum-salary player to go with Irving, Gordon Hayward and Al Horford wouldn’t have been sustainable for long.

To say the absolute least, Robot Dave does not seem like a credible source.

My impression is that Ainge is holding back the picks and Jaylen to make another move if he manages to get AD for Tatum, Smart, and RW3

Imagine if he makes a second big move, and it doesn’t have to be this summer.  We could have Brown and the Memphis pick as great assets, and a re-signed Morris and/or Rozier (cough) as salary fillers.

How many years are we gonna do this waiti until next year game.  We’ve been rebuilding for 7 years.  Let’s stop Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. footing around and get a team and coach for the next 4-5 years

That's what Danny was trying to do. The idea was to team up Gordon, Kyrie, Davis and Horford for the next 4 years or so. It seems like it's not going to happen, so he needs to go in a different direction. Things happen, he took a shot, it didn't work out, so now on to the next think. You can't simply build a team as in the past, you need the elite level players, and unless you get lucky in the draft you need to trade for them or get them in free agency.

It is widely known that the Celtics have the shiniest collection of assets for a potential Davis deal, but there are questions about how far they would open their treasure chest. One league source said the uncertainty surrounding Davis’s long-term future in Boston has thus far limited the Celtics’ willingness to overwhelm New Orleans with an offer.

good news, ric bucher has spoken (the opposite of what he says tends to be true lol.)  Ric Bucher: I fully Expect the Lakers to get a deal done before the draft.  Also says if they add Kuzma, the deal is done.
