No it's not. Who cares about draft picks? They're trade chips anyway. Just get the deal done.

OK -- could be.

But... what if DA doesn't pull the trigger and Kyrie leaves, Al opt out/ leaves, and the Jays turn out to be more Khris Middleton than Kevin Durant?  C's are perhaps a 4-8 seed for the foreseeable future. If it plays out this way -- which is a feasible outcome -- NOT trading for AD may be considered DA's greatest failure.

Make that a POSSIBLE one year rental.

Was George a one year rental?  Is Leonard going to be a one year rental (take a guess)?

If Brown survives the deal, it's not so bad. You figure Tatum and either Smart of Brown. I like both, but Brown has the upside. I'm surprised  Griffin doesn't prefer Brown, if this isn't fake news.

In the end, what the agent thinks doesn't matter. It's what the player thinks. And he'll have a whole year to think it over.

The risk to the Celtics is they don't get to the finals with AD. And it will be difficult against the Raptors and the Bucks.

I have my doubts about Stevens coaching bigs, but that's something for Ainge to worry about.

P.S. Didn't we already have this vote in another thread? It was something like 40 for the deal with Tatum, and about 12 against it.

Huh? Were the third picks in 2016 (Brown) and 2017 (Tatum) also just trade chips that nobody cared about? Keeping the Memphis pick allows us to still have a likely high draft pick to potentially hit on if AD leaves.
