Good grief. Still think Smart/brown/Memphis pick/our other picks is a better package, so I wonder if that was really fully on the table. Or maybe I’m just underrating those LA pieces.

My only guess is that Davis made it abundantly clear he would leave Boston after one year—making it imprudent to complete a trade.

That's a weak package and is a big tell that Danny wasn't serious he was just driving the price up.

At least we have resolution in that department.
ok fine

Sort of inevitable. But I guess we are back to square one and rebuilding. Going to be a long 3-5 years folks. Buckle up.

If Danny was never serious about trading the assets he's put together for a major star when one became available, then what is the plan?

Wow.

I'm honestly shocked. Danny Ainge planned for years to go after AD and he backed down when the time came.

What is Danny's plan for the Celtics?

I'm actually okay with a youth movement but I'm genuinely upset by the notion that the Celtics don't have a clear plan or philosophy.

Just because you haven't been informed of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Welp. There goes that domino...

Quote
Adrian Wojnarowski @wojespn 48s
The Pelicans have agreed to a deal to trade Anthony Davis to the Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks – including the No. 4 overall in 2019 Draft, league sources tell ESPN

I wonder if DA pulled out.

I think he could have easily beaten this deal, some thing else must have happened were he didn't want to pull the trigger.

Even Brown/Smart/#14 and the Meph pick is better that that hot garbage. Guy who can't shoot, guy with health issues, and even if healthy not better than Brown over all right now. And Heart isn't anything to sing about. # 4 pick could turn out good.

I'm almost glad. It would have been an other season of "are to resigning?" with AD.

DA now can focus on making a scrappy fast paced team to meet the Lakers in the finals. That will be fun.

WOW. Unbelievable.

The Lakers always get what they want, right? SMH

Gonna be another disappointing Celtics season, as far as I'm concerned. No AD, Kyrie's probably gone, and Danny will probably keep Rozier. Ugh. Gross.

In case you're wondering, no, I don't think Tatum and/or Brown and/or Rozier are gonna be superstars.

We can get a sigh of relief! Also the pelicans stripped the lakers of all assets possible. I am glad danny helped them. Seems like the overpaying package that knicks forked over for Carmelo and then they wasted their cap space on amare and chandler. Let’s hope they waste their cap space on cousins

Ainge literally sat on his hands during the 2018-2019 season, did not acquire bigs midseason and pretty much did nothing getting Anthony Davis.

The Pelicans could have literally traded for Davis in February with that same package offered, except they wouldn't know a pick would've been the #4 pick.

The Celtics wasted this year and now the Celtics are going to waste another year.

So over the past two years we've missed out on acquiring Paul George, Jimmy Butler, and now Anthony Davis.

I’m actually okay with this.

If Kyrie does end up in BKN, the Celtics pulling this trade has way too much potential to backfire on them with AD walking after next season (and endless CS talk about him walking all season). Celtics would’ve been absolutely screwed in that situation heading forward.

By keeping all the kids, even in Kyrie walks, there is still some immediate hope for the near future.

This....and the ownership does not want to risk starting over again after Tatum, and smart and whatever is included are gone.

this makes those dang Fakers the favorites in the West.

Just because you haven't been informed of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Doesn't mean it DOES exist, either.

And if the plan is simply "Let's see what Tatum/Brown/Rozier develop into," it's gonna be a long next few seasons.

I hope you all got a good look at the last 3 seasons, because that was the entirety of Boston's "contention" window. Back to irrelevance.
