For those wondering, Pelicans fans HATE this trade. They are seething about it over on the Pels forum.

Seems they wanted tatum or even brown/smart

They should have gotten Kuzma too. Played hardball for him.

For all the talk the Pelicans owner did about not just "gifting AD" to the Lakers... that's pretty much what they did.

Danny did the right thing.... Pelicans should not have traded with the Lakers BUT THEY HAD NO CHOICE. ONCE the player and his agent said he was not reUpping with any other team it was OVER.

Im resigned to the fact that the cs without Kyrie may not be such a bad thing after all....Our record has been decent without him and certainly the team plays different when ever they don't have to rely on one single player to bail them out.

I actually feel the real celtic team comes out and our current team will make sure it will have enough shots to go around for the Js, hayward and Al.

A starting five of Smart ( yes he is actually a decent PG), Brown, Hayward, Tatum and Al can still make it to the top 5 in the East...who knows maybe IT comes back and gets his old self back, Im also all for Morris to come back..Give shot to AB? why not...lets see what we have first before we jump the gun here.

Look for whatever reasons, Ainge didnt go all in. As has been discussed to death, Ainge has been planning for AD for years now. Unfortunately because the NBA isnt prepared for Clutch, the Celtics havent been able to speak with AD for the past year like the "Lakers" have.

Ainge must have gotten that AD would be here for one year only. No exceptions. If that's the case, why would we punt 10 years for one shot at a title. We need to get players here who want to be here. If any of you are like me, last year was not fun. Watching the media destroy us wasnt chill.

Let the brow go be a beta for a couple years. Lebron has marginalized every big man hes played with since becoming a super star. Maybe AD is the exception. Maybe not.

Go Celtics

So we have our young core and five first round draft picks over the next two years.

Then we get Horford and Hayward off the books, and we can sign someone who could actually bring us a championship.

I guess I am glad the suspense is over. I really like Tatum & Brown so at least they will be staying now. It will be interesting to see if we actually draft with our picks or move up or move down or trade them. I am happy that we didn't trade our assets for a player who didn't want to be here and we would have to wait for an entire season to see if he will walk like I expect Kyrie to do even after he said he was staying.

Bad mojo to you AD & LeBron. Thanks to Griffin for caving in to the package that may not be as good as it seems. Ingram last I knew had a potentially serious health issue. Lonzo said before he didn't want to play there. Josh Hart actually sucks. So the #4 pick will be good and I doubt the other picks will be worth anything late 20s with protections.

Maybe Danny will trade for Lonzo (choke me) and maybe he will trade for Capela who is good on D and can catch lobs. That could be enough for us to get 46 wins.

Pelicans had no leverage at all NONE. The league wanted AD in LA that is why the pre-compensated Pelicans with #1 pick. They could have given the #1 to Lakers to facilitate the trade, but that would have been too obvious.

Here comes Lakers fans screaming "THREEPEAT" "CHAMPIONSHIPS BABY"

Ugh just when the Warriors dynasty came to an end, the Lakers are revived. And they are going to be running the West- I mean LeBron and Davis is tough to match. Not Houston. Not Denver. Not Utah. Not Portland.

LeBron forming superteams since 2010 continues sigh.

There is no big name on par with Anthony Davis who is likely to be available in the next few years though.

By all accounts Danny Ainge was targeting AD for years. Pretty much since he traded Pierce and Garnett.

I don't see who that next guy to target might be.

My only guess is Karl Anthony-Towns
I think Beal and George will be available at the trade deadline plus possibly Kemba and overpaid butler and Harris.
All we would need are expiring contracts and 2 of the draft picks we make to look promising ... come on let’s be optimistic

None of the players either of you mentioned is a guy who makes a team a contender.

The next MVP caliber player to play for the Boston Celtics is not yet in the NBA.

There are only a handful who do, and Danny needs to figure out how to get one.

So over the past two years we've missed out on acquiring Paul George, Jimmy Butler, and now Anthony Davis.

And Kawhi
