Seems that way,but I'm hopeful Fultz figures it out and recovers his game.

The yips are scary, and I'd rather have the young man recover than have "jokes".

The media needs to change the following narrative because it's not going to do Simmons any long term favors:

"Ben Simmons will be a superstar once he gets a jumpshot."

to:

"Ben Simmons COULD be a superstar IF he gets a jumpshot."

Tatum is already a better player than him. Simmons needs to dedicate the next 5-8 years of his life to remaking a consistent jump shot while contributing to his team as an athletic Small Forward (like whatever Josh Jackson is). By then Tatum, will still be better than him because he has a beautiful jumper + 7 years of experience shooting it, but at least he won't end up like Michael Carter Williams, because that is exactly where he's heading.

Fultz should be fine.  He has been a good shooter everywhere he has played until he got hurt in summer league.

What could this guy have been doing all last year? When I go into an empty gym, I put up shots. And shots. And more shots. Yeah I’ll get in handling/post moves, but still, you put up shots.

I don’t practice barreling down the lane absorbing imaginary contact on an imaginary fast break to make a hoop. This guy had an entire year to work on his shot and instead went a whole season without hitting a three.

Maybe he simply doesn’t have the mechanics to be a shooter. We’ve all been waiting for Marcus to clean up his shot and it’s not happening. But at least we can see him working on it and taking them. Sure we cringe at most of them but occasionally we get a 7-trey game out of nowhere. Simmons has zero desire (or willingness) to even look at the rim outside of the paint.

Oh an his defense is pretty bad too.

Yeah that is crazy.  He would be able to get to the rim so much easier if he could hit a 15 foot jump shot.  I too am surprised that he didn't greatly improve his shot during the year that he was off, or the summer before this season. 

He has great potential, and with his athleticism he is going to get to the rim, but he isn't the threat he needs to be shooting 47% on almost all bunnies.

The knock on him was always his shot. If they had a full year with him they should have made improvements to his form.

If he didn’t want anyone fixing his shot, that would lead me to believe he didn’t think it needed to be corrected. And as we saw from this season and especially this series, he did not trust taking anything beyond 12 feet. That means he knows it’s broken.

I'm looking at this, and thinking, "wait, Simmons actually attempted two shots outside the paint??"

He legit looked frightened to even take a shot outside the paint, even if he was left WIDE open (like, no defender a whole 15 feet from him).

At least Giannis tried some jump shots and generally made the open look ones (though he obviously lacks a true, consistent jump shot as well).

If they're remaking his shot, he could be in a situation like I described where he doesn't shoot in a basketball game for another X years and just acts as an athletic wing like Josh Jackson before rolling it out. I'm thinking if they start working on it now, he may have something non-humiliating within 2-3 years. By 5th year he could have a league average jump shot. But that's going to require asking a 21 year old to do nothing but work on basketball. Kobe, LeBron & Michael would do it. I don't see this kid doing it. I genuinely believe that he will never live out his potential and will fizzle out of the league like MCW did. It's already a 3 ball league and it's only getting worse, and he's so far behind everyone else. Even the worst shooting PGs had some level of offensive shot: Westbrook, Rose, etc. They all had some kind of go to shot that they were comfortable taking and could at least hit the breakeven 33% from 3pt in a pinch. This guy has nothing.
