Many of you break down games and players a lot better than I can.  He just looks phenomenal to me.  21 years old, big and amazingly talented with the ball.  Sees the court and plays incredibly smoothly for a youngster.   With his size and skills I think he is well on his way to being a top 10 player.  If he were a Celtic I am pretty sure most here would be salivating over his potential.  He'll make the all-star team without much question next year.
he didn’t make a single 3 pointer all year. How many point guards.... have ever done that?

Simmons is no pg... he is a point forward

If he can ever make and be confident in taking a 17 foot jump shot....he will be tough to stop

until then, a good team can press on his weakness late in games
Simmons is most definitely a PG.  He runs the Sixers offense.  With their other starters being, Redick, Covington, Saric and Embiid, he's clearly their PG.  If I recall correctly, he had the most touches and passes of any player in the league.  Right now, he's Rondo in a 6'10 250lb frame.  I agree that he needs to work on his mid range jumper and also his free throws to be elite.

So is Lebron a true PG also?
He is.  Do you think JR Smith runs the offense?

What I'll suprised about anyone mention is this. Just how garbage he is at finishing around the rim. He should dunk it every time, when he doesn't dunk it he looks like a toddler.

He's a natural righty, who shoots free throws, jump shots and threes left handed, and he drives left like Harden, except he comes back and finishes with his right hand like a fool.

It looks so bad. Seriously my inside scoring game was more refined than his. It's sad. Pathetic really.

Oh well good. For the Celtics. Celtics in Six games.

.

Dude you must be watching him in alternative universe. Simmons finishes very well for a first year player.

Respectfully disagree. Simmons is a left handed player. Except he can't finish with his left hand. Watch him closely. He's the strangest star in the league.

Isn't he right handed?

People have been saying he would shoot better with his right

No

But George Hill does and Kyrie did at one point

Now Lebron has his share of "give me the ball and get out of my way" moments

but if he was a true PG he would be bringing up the ball 80 percent of time

No.  Lebron sometimes serves as the Cavs PG in some lineups but most of the time there is a PG on the court with him.

The fact of the matter is that coach Brown said Simmons was going to be their PG, coached him in the offseason to be their PG and has used him as their PG during the season.  There is no one else in their starting lineup who is anywhere close to being a PG and Simmons brings the ball up the court and initiates their offense almost all the time.

Simmons is a point guard. He's also a really good athlete and a poor shooter. He unique. I don't think there's a good comp for him right now besides Magic. He's going to have to improve as a shooter. Magic wasn't a great shooter, but he also wasn't one of the worst.

He really lost confidence tonight. Looked shook.

Watched Donovan Mitchell play last night in Houston – could not have been more different. He had a bad shooting night, but at the end he kept putting up shots and finding a way to score. Just kept fighting hard til they won. If you haven’t seen the highlights yet, check out Mitchell rebounding his own miss late in the 4th and dunking it in the same motion.

wasnt one of the question on simmons in college was whether he was the sort of player who would be mentally strong. and by that, i mean like smart or KG. they just exert control over a game sometimes.

simmons seems too passive, but then, he is very young and still learning.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

He thrives in transition and we're not letting him do that.  We only had 5 offensive rebounds in each game because we're getting back on defense.

In half court we play off of him making it difficult for him to drive.  Plus, Smart was clearly in his head.

Simmons had a bad game. I wouldn’t be writing his obit just yet.

All of that. People complain we aren't getting offensive rebounds, but the reason is that bigs are sprinting back to wait for him at the foul line. Baynes had a bunch of possessions where he was in the corner on offense to draw out Embiid, then when the shot went up he was sprinting to get back on D. Definitely worth it.

Yeah. I'm not counting the Sixers out at all. We have the right personnel for him, and a good scheme they haven't cracked ... so far.

The fact that he can't shoot a jump shot, though, even from mid-range, is really a problem for him.
