Simmons has serious Flaws in his game

Rondo has been a major contributor to NOP's playoff success as a heady playmaker and distributor, including last night's performance with 4 points, 10 rebounds, 21 assists.  As a rookie, Simmons has already had four 15 assist games.

Rondo is more dynamic passer than Simmons who is averaging 8 APG in the playoffs.   It also the quality of the passes.  Rondo for instance is averaging 13 APG these playoffs.

Rondo drips intangibles and Simmons does not.  Simmons is still a great player thought and a veritable stat machine.   He has a lot of room to grow but there are reasons he did not dominate and lead his teams to wins in college and some of it was on his team mates and some is on Ben.

I don't see any reason to throw dirt on the kid. He's a 21 year old rookie who led his team to 51 regular season wins and put up a 18-10-9-2.5 during his first playoff series, winning it in 5 games.

He had a couple of rough games and he has to get better at finding ways to score but I'm also steeling myself for a big game from him tonight.

The problem with Simmons right now isn't shooting, it's maturity. Some of the blame lies on the organization. They finally ended up with Simmons + Embiid, but the stink of the process has not prepared them for playoff basketball. Maybe next year.

Stephen A. Smith going off on Brett Brown is comically exaggerated. Brown didn't make Simmons put his head down and run into Embiid with the ball bouncing behind him. It's not the coaches fault that he scored 1 point last game.

He's young, it's fixable, but playoff basketball has exposed him.

Indeed.  Playoff basketball is mucb more a half-court game due to tighter defenses. That doesn’t play well to Simmons’ strength which is finding guys in transition.

Don’t be so shocked. I know a lot about basketball! One of the most important parts is being able to put the ball into the basket — an ability that Simmons does not possess yet.

Sorry, you cannot build a team around a PG that can’t shoot. The success of the pick and roll is due to the threat of going under the screen and eating a 3. If they can go under the pick and roll each time, you don’t have a pick and roll offense, which has been the staple NBA attack for about 30 years.

Im telling you guys that the only reason the last 2 games were close is TJ McConnell playing point. Not because Tj is a great player... but because the Sixers with an actual point guard are on par with our injured lineup.

Proud to say I was a SImmons hater before the draft (I liked Ingram, Dunn and Brown  ). That's not to say he won't figure it out and fill in some of the holes. But you can't get a heart transplant. Dude doesn't have guts or a winner's mentality. That will limit his ultimate ceiling.

His numbers are only impressive when you ignore the fact that he had the biggest negative impact on his team when he played. Empty numbers for an empty player
